I ordered the 625 through soho. Should be here in the beginning of the year. The gasket is being made by SCE. It’s the Vulcan cut ring gasket. Said it’s good for 10000 hp. Has the fire ring in the gasket. It

ARP claims you don't need to retorque them after the first heat cycle, and honestly very few people probably do considering the amount of work required to do so.
Having to retorque head studs is nothing new, its just that its a big dilemma for VQs and similar engines that practically need a rebuild to get in and retorque them. Its why lots of experts strongly prefer torque to yield fasteners. Im sure its a result of the heat cycles and thermal expansion. You torque it, and it has X amount of load on it. Then it all gets hot and it wants to expand more than the stud allows it to, now increasing the compression/load on the threads. This is likely causes permanent compression to the head gasket and pulls the threads in the block a little and digs the washer into the cylinder head a little bit, etc etc. Then things cool back down, and contract a little bit... but the space that was made remains, and youve lost compressive load until you tighten the stud further to make up for the space that was made.

If you want a hint. I watch a machine shop video that heated up coolant with a RV propane water heater and a water pump. Let it cool and re-torqued the next morning when stone cold. It can be done before dropping into the car.

Ive seen that too, thats one way to go... makes sense for a shop, but not easily performed by people at home. I think the guy who build my VR38 short block told me they do that too (on complete long blocks).

In the Cummins world we only had ARP2000's head studs to start. Folks would TQ them down, put the engine through a heat cycle, and then let the truck sit overnight. The next morning they would retorque again. If the nuts moved during the 2nd re-torque, they would do it again. Along came the ARP625's and folks did the same procedure. They never had the nuts move again during the 2nd torque session.

Looks like the motor rebuild will be put on hold for a little while longer than I initially thought. I have some family expenses that I need to take care of first that will hit me hard next year. Chit happens. No fun, but I can wait.

This is where we are as a society. Zero care for others and attempting to garner as much attention as possible through sensationalism.

There is no doubt we have all done STUPID when we were younger. With a high whp car comes great responsibility and restraint. Save it for the track or an event in a controlled environment. If you do STUPID long enough you will get caught and pay the price. Racing around on the street is just not wise and dang sure dangerous for others around you.

He does have a point though regardless of his actions. Seems odd to me that you would make a comment about him on a video totally unrelated to him.

It is related. I have seen a video of him at night blowing through countless red lights in town as fast as he could go. I have seen many videos of him being stupid. He is a moron. He will hurt someone if he keeps it up or end up in jail. I haven't seen his post on Instagram. He got blocked right after he tagged me in on it. I don't have time for stupid people. By the way, I didn't post his Youtube channel, just his name.

Remember what I said? I have done stupid before and got to visit the gray bar motel for eluding. You can do whatever you want, just be ready to suffer the consequences of your actions. It is 100 times worse than it was way back in the day when I got caught. Texas isn't playing around anymore due to all the stupid things that has happened in the state. Johnny Law is sick of it everywhere. As far as me watching your videos, doubt that ever happens.
