DC traffic freaking sucks......

Spooler 09-26-2020 04:28 PM

Left 70 deg weather and no traction to 84 deg and hooking up. I don't need boost weather.

Wife even rode in the car. Her reaction was classic. "Holey Chit"!!!! You need to make sure folks have Depends on when taking a ride. LMAO!!!!

When you post using the YOUTUBE tags, leave off the youtu.be/ part. Just need the video code at the very end of the URL :twocents:

The trials and tribulations of getting your car back. Go from an extremely high HIGH and then back to normal. UGG. Wish I was driving back and forth to work.

When I am driving I don't think to much about it. No time for it. Trying not to kill myself. The car is exactly what I like.
A handful that takes concentration and solid driving. It is very rewarding when you get it right. The way my car is, it is not
for everyone.

HOT damn that video on Fast Intentions story right now! She sounds like a jet, I love it!!

GeauxTigers1 09-29-2020 12:50 AM

Spooler, does your ATS Triple Carbon clutch squeal a little when engaging the pedal? It's beautiful silent when not pressed, (which is awesome bc I hated the throw out bearing rattle with the OEM setup at idle) but now when I press in the clutch, it's a noticeable squeal. Almost like when brake pads are worn down and that little indicator is barely rubbing on the rotor. Not terrible, but was curious if you experienced the same. Only have about 100 miles on her so breaking in for sure and love the way it drives so far! Just gotta get a damn switch for the Diff cooler so that beast isn't the loudest thing on the car. lol

Yes, when you depress the pedal the clutch makes a funky noise. I don't mind it at all. It's not a rattle, it is a funny little noise. Break the clutch in, LOL. On a carbon clutch it is not that necessary. You need that heat to get it to bite.
I must add that the noise is the carbon disks and metal disks moving around in the clutch basket. For a multi plate clutch this is normal and it is rather quite. It shouldn't squeal, more like ball bearings rattling around in a glass jar when you make
them sling around and around.

Great to hear! It doesn’t bother me either, much preferred in fact to the old 6 puck but wanted to make sure! And your description of that sound is MUCH better than mine. Lol!

And are you telling me I DONT need an initial break in?? I was going to take it easy for the first 500 miles.

Hell, Seb does all the break in on the motor and whatever so when I get it back I drive the crap out of it and change the oil at 1500 to 2000 miles and never look back. As far as the clutch I never have worried about breaking it in.

I had 5 gallons of pump E85 in my fuel jug. It has been sitting since the end of December of last year. I didn't see any water or cloudy fuel. Down the gullet it went. I will have to pump from my Ignite Red stash next time.

Spooler 09-30-2020 06:47 PM

No traction today in 3rd at 74 deg. 17psi of boost. Gotta work on that. More hp, more traction issues. Damn cool weather messing with my fun. Boost weather, don't want none.

Spooler 09-30-2020 08:06 PM

This is what my wife said it was like riding in my car.
For all you brave souls, 3rd gear the car pulls hard all the way to redline, 4th gear the car pulls hard all the way to redline, etc.
It never stops pulling and the power never falls off at all.

Your dyno sheet backs that up. Makes torque like a turbo (hit's hard low) and makes linear power to redline (like a supercharger). Best of both worlds.

What tires do you typically drive around on? Its kinda fun transitioning from warm to colder weather cause the road is unpredictable and you gotta drive that thang. I notice once it gets colder my radials do better than the bias ply slicks.

Toyo R888r's 325/30/19's on an 11.5in rim on the back. I have to drive for an hour before the tires get warm enough to do squat right now. If you haven't been watching I
have been driving it. LOL

That's the way I like it. I don't care for the detune in the lower rpm. I prefer to use my right foot by rolling into the throttle, that is my traction control.

Spooler 09-30-2020 09:15 PM

I need more time in the seat to tell you what I think about going from 11:1 to 10:1. It's killing me because the temps fell out the week I picked it up.

Exactly, why do turbo's if you need to detune it in the lower rpm range

Folks do it because of headgaskets, rods, and traction. Depending if they are on stock motor or not.

Saving the motor I can understand

Spooler 09-30-2020 09:38 PM

I have until next year sometime to get the traction issue squared away. Won't be running any 1/2 mile events until then.
