I sure as hell miss my 1990 300zxtt. That was my dream car. Not a GTR, Corvette, etc. I sold it back in 2000. It was totaled about 4 months afterwards when it was drove into high floodwaters and hydrolocked the engine.
|
Got stuck on a hill at a traffic light. Car was at 1/4 tank. She spit and sputtered a little bit. Pulled up at my Dew Stop and replenished my supply. Came back out and cranked the car, the fuel pressure was all over the place. I had to put 1 gallon of 93oct in the car. Ethanol content dropped down to E46. Couple miles down the road it started pumping E90 from the other side and my Ethanol content went back up to E78. It didn't like sitting on that hill at a traffic light. Never had any issues until today. I have been at 1/4 tank a couple of times. This is the only oddball incident I have had with the new CJ-Motorsports surge canister.

I must of found a fluke. I drove it yesterday down to 1/4 tank and didn't have any issues. Got on boost and made sure both fuel pumps were on. LOL, I was behind a slow poke, Not for long.

I am going to guess that the fuel level sensor is on its way out. When mine was going out several years ago, it would intermittently shift between 2 positions about 1/4 tank worth apart. Sometimes hours apart, sometimes not long at all. Sometimes it would read full tank when I filled it, sometimes it would read less than full.
There are those fill valves on the bottom of the canister.. on level ground it would only take maybe 1", if even, of fuel depth to get to the fuel pumps. So if the tank was quite low, it would be no surprise to have fuel pickup issues on a steep hill since the fuel pump mounting flange is about in the middle of the tank (front to rear) and so is the venturi pickup on the driver side. But since it sounds like it didnt want to run even on level ground until you added fuel, I have to assume that either the tank was legit empty (level sensor reading optimistic), the check valves are blocked (unlikely with such a new installation), or perhaps the fuel pumps are too high (i have seen people slide them all the way up in the pump holder rather than setting them so the pickups are as low as possible) |

I was nose down to the drivers side at the traffic light. I then had to go up a hill. It spit at me 2 times going up the hill. I think it was just a fluke. If I would have keep driving it would have transferred fuel back to the passenger side. Instead, I parked at the store. I could have a sensor going out. It has been acting strange since I got the surge canister back in. No worries from me. I hardly ever let it get down to 1/4 tank anyways. I was doing it to test it out.

I put 15 gallons of E90 in it and I still had 2 dots not showing. That sounds a little off. From what I remember before at 2 dots it would take 17 gallons to fill it up.

Love some O'Jay's.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sound of Silence. From this point on, you are on your own.

What turbos should I be running to hit 1400 hp? Do you think I need an intercooler, too?
|
Just for you Jarblue.

Go out in style |

This is my favourite version. Something about the stereo separation of their voices makes it more eerie. |

It is one of the fuel sendors. One of them is bad. I had a full tank. Went for a quick drive. 1/2 tank. Put 6 gallons of fuel in it and it still reads 1/2 tank. LOL, There done. |

Ive attached a page from the service manual for determining which sensor is bad. If you fill the tank again, without having to open the tank at all, you can just unplug the tophat on both sides of the tank and test resistance across the sensor terminals. Both should read about 3.0ohm full... whichever one is way out, is your culprit. I will bet its the passenger side, since its been handled more. Also, dont open the tank until you think its more than halfway empty, or it will make a big mess. |

Hey Phunk,
I need to know what to order to replace both of my fuel pumps since I am going back in there to replace the fuel level sensor. I need to know what size hose I need to get to run from the pumps to the tophat. The size for Warlboro 450 and 525's. They are 3 yrs old. Might as well. I don't want to go back in there again for a while. |

Sneak peak....

A little more.

Enjoy.... Our kit is in the works.

Last one. Good info so I figured I would share all of these. They are not cheap but I have had no brakes at a buck twenty, it is no fun.

Still enjoying my Antigravity battery and Battery tracker. It makes it so much easier to keep track of the battery without doing much at all.

Hey Nissan, Build one of these.

Still got my :drama:out watching the show.

I have all my data gathered up. I know exactly what I need to do. The question is, do I want too. Still thinking on that. Sometimes you have to fail to be successful. If you think success is easy, it is not. It's a battle to see what your made of and if you can learn quickly from your mistakes.
|
If people weren't such A-Holes I would post my data but, that's not going to happen.

Phunk, finally had time to take the fuel pump assembly out. The fuel level issue was due to the level assembly falling off the surge tank. I made sure it clicked in this time. I also found I had a grounding issue when checking grounds with my VOM. I moved the fuel pump grounds to the pump assembly that bolts to the top hat. I had to sand off the anodized coating to ensure I was getting a good ground. Only other thing I found is one of my fuel pump positives fell out in my hands. I wired in the new pigtails so if I need to replace the pumps in the future, It will be simple. I did install the new pumps, No since in not doing it while I was there. Thanks for the help.

Just poking a little fun. LOL

Well, I never got my intake spacer for my SOHO intake manifold. I have been patient and asked 15 times. I'm not asking any more. Not happy. They could have just made it correctly from the start where I didn't need a spacer. I started and got the group buy together after all.
|
Buy the way. I didn't get any favors when SOHO installed the coolant pressure sensor in my car. The dang thing has been throwing O2 codes for low voltage on the passenger side sensor 1 since I got the car back. I can't even drive it. Missing, skipping, etc. I will just leave it at that. I have been trying to be nice. Well, forget that. Not being nice anymore.

I should have went back to MA-Motorsports to get my work done. Then, let Vince at RT Tuning re-tune it. Last year was a complete bust. Oh well, live and learn.
