I hope I don’t have to upgrade clutches

What clutch do you have and how much power are you making?

Hydraulic's can do wonders for pedal pressure.

You did catch that it has a clutch booster just like a the brake booster. It is under the dash of the car. Light pedal pressure, pump 3-5 times and loose the vacuum boost and that clutch was very heavy for a factory clutch.

It is very cost efficient to do for a ATS non carbon one. Add the additional disks and change out the pressure plate to keep the stack height the same. You are good to go.

ATS twin disk, I知 to poor to afford the carbon. I was prepping for boost. I値l be at the same or around spoolers power level.

Just go straight to a triple and be done with it or endure the wait I have for parts. It's not that much to upgrade. Ask Jon to get a price for you.

It's the Tq that will get you. You need to have enough to hold 750 ft/lb of tq.

I wasn't really sure on how that operated. Did it have a booster mounted like the brake booster? Before the CMC?

The clutch booster was mounted inside the car on the firewall. The CMC mounted to the firewall. The giveaway was the brakebooster was T'd off to a line that feed the CMC booster. If you didn't know it was there you probably wouldn't catch it. That is exactly how I can tell when someone swaps in a TT to a NA car. They never add the clutch booster.

We can look at one next year at the Zdayz car show. I will show you.

I ran from the wallet lash too and am now feeling buyers remorse.

Hotrodz 06-26-2019 03:27 PM

I had the SZ street max clutch before e85 and when I got my tune for race fuel I was at 550wtq and it held but would get hot so when Seb tune for e85 a 6 puck went in. I'm thinking a 5 puck will be next.

It is very easy to upgrade with an ATS clutch. One friction disk, One clutch material disk, and a new pressure plate to keep the stack height the same. Anyone else you would have been buying a whole new clutch.

I have a brand new Specialty Z 6 puck sitting on my garage floor in a box. You can save some money if you need everything. I have the whole kit from Fast Intentions that I have never used. You would just need a new 5 puck disk. Yours can be rebuilt by Seb though. May be more cost effective to do that.

Yep, I had to purchase a whole new clutch kit when I went the 6 puck and moving to the 5 will be less painful as you have suggested. the 6 puck can be upgrade to a 5.

At least Elmo doesn't have to upgrade turbos lol. That will be my biggest expense outside of the machine shop cost.

Elmo370z 06-26-2019 06:09 PM

I would sell the car

The hit on sell a boosted is more than double the cost of a pair turbos!

Just a minute whilst I whiff this stank out my office door.

This is just part of modifying cars. Even when I have done them myself it takes the time that it takes. I checked around a while back, the quality shops and machine shops just take a while. 5-8 months for the machine shop to get the motor done. Sometimes longer depending on what you have done.

Ask Hotrodz how he is feeling. It's brutal and nothing you can do about it.

I hear ya. My build is keeping your spirits upbeat because
both of ours are very similar. It will be done shortly. The last couple of weeks are going to be even more brutal, just like you have said before.
