Finally, I have some time for myself. I have a ton more traction than ever before. Time to kick this pig and see where I am. I hope the weather holds.

Spooler 06-21-2024 09:41 PM

Changed the oil today and did a once over to check everything. Drained my catch cans and only water came out. The car is ready to go but the dang rain started today. Crapola!!

gbrettin 06-27-2024 09:42 AM

Any updates with getting some runs in?

Noop. It's that time of the year. I am happy to be getting rain finally. It was dry as a bone. The high's have been 98 to 100deg with high humidity. I see no need to stress the motor that much for nothing.

Nothing good is going to be cheap. Just the way it is. All their stuff they test themselves and beat the heck out of it.

Took my car for a spin tonight. The brakes work excellent. I had 3 deer jump out in front of me. I stopped 15 ft. before them, and I was cooking along. LOL

Car is still doing great. Coolant temps are around 194 deg in 95 deg weather. Oil temps are at 170 deg. The only time oil temps get higher is if I am on the interstate for an extended period of time. As soon as I get off, they come right back down. Oil pressure at hot idle is 49psi. Nismo oil pump is just doing its thang.

Spooler 08-04-2024 05:54 PM

I will be at Z Nationals on Saturday Sept. 28th at Z1 if you want to see the car in person.

Spooler 08-04-2024 06:33 PM

Coolant pressure has been a topic of discussion. I can tell you by watching my Emtron display that the coolant pressure varies on when the thermostat opens and closes. My car naturally has a max coolant pressure of 25psi when using 12psi of boost at 8k rpms. It does the exact same thing at 23psi of boost. The pressure does vary if the thermostat is open or closed. When the car is cold I can see 19psi just cruising around. Once the thermostat opens, it drops down to 12-15 psi of coolant pressure. After a run, it is 12psi of pressure. I know one other person that drilled his thermostat, basically removed the guts, and his are only 12psi but he has no thermostat. That's fine for a drag car but not good for a streetcar. That's one of the things you need to do if you have copper headgaskets. They don't like high coolant pressure. We really need a coolant by-pass like I run on my 04.5 Dodge Dually with a 5.9 diesel to limit coolant pressure. Back in the old days they would clip the water pump fins to help with this. That's old school stuff.

I know folks are waiting to see what I do. I have just been very busy. I will get at it eventually.

Spooler 08-13-2024 10:09 PM

I went for a little drive today. The car is just stupid fun.

DaveZ03 08-14-2024 06:05 AM

Glad to hear that you are finally able to consistently enjoy the car after all the ups and downs you've had with it.

Spooler 08-14-2024 11:11 AM

I got it right this time. The subframe mods and going to an auto 3.3 diff with a tuned OS Giken LSD is working wonders. No more one wheel peels like I was having with the off the shelf 3.69 OS Giken. I need to add more boost in the upper rpms in 2nd and 3rd. I just haven't had time to tune it in.

Glad you're enjoying the 3.3 and tuned lsd. One of these days, I might be able to enjoy mine too

The only thing to get use to is backing up. You go real fast backwards. LOL That is the only annoying thing.

I think an air shifted sequential will be in my future. The Emtron will run it with no problems. I am not wasting a dime on the factory manual trans.

Yup, one day. Last thing I want to do. Paddled shifted air shifter for upshifts and downshifts.

This was one of the goals with my 4L80e! It will be damn interesting to see what you end up doing.

It will be a while. I am in no hurry. Got life going on right now and other more important stuff to deal with.

You will love an ECU controlled sequential. Rev-match down shifts - perfect every time and flat up-shifts - tricky point might be managing boost with an ignition cut but you are the expert (or will surely know someone).

It'll be bags of fun for sure.

There are a heap of gearbox options.

Yup, all else fails call Emtron and fly someone over to tune it. I have flat foot shifting turned on. She will pop loud as crap at WOT sometimes.

I have some magic going on with my new setup and I am trying to figure out as to the why. Temps and ambient pressure at the compressor wheel. I changed some things up and it is working well enough that I notice it but I think I have more efficiency left on the table I can exploit.

Still had it. It is the most frustrating thing ever. I never had this issue with Vince's tune. Vince tuned my car twice and it was perfect. That's what I expect and the dang guy freaking delivered.

Spooler, Did you ever get your stumble at 2800 rolling into throttle fixed? I have a 2017 370Z with Fast Intentions Stage 2 with UpRev dyno tune and have what sounds like the same issue you outlined in your post. Thanks for any insight you can share.
