What is everyone using for motor mounts. I forgot all about them.

I was going to go with Z1 but I also forgot about them until after I installed the kit, so I skipped it.

I went with the Z1 solids ... I'm figuring I need to shake my molars loose
(I did go with the urethane transmission and diff bushings)

phunk 01-10-2019 01:40 PM

Z1 mounts are solid (pun intended :tiphat:). I ran them forever in my Z. There are also some new ones on the scene that are interesting <shrug>

I run Z1 solid mounts and the urethane transmission mount. I didn't notice any real increase in vibration. I think you get more vibration in you use a solid trans mount with it.

You arent lying. I tried a straight solid trans mount in my 370z and I tell everyone the story about how when I left the shop to drive it home, I wasnt even willing to make the drive back to the shop. As soon as I got home I drove up some 2x4s, jacked up the car, and rolled under there to swap the stock mount back in. :rofl2: YMMV but for me and my trans it was not tolerable.

sirnixalot 01-10-2019 02:38 PM

I stuck with the Z1 urethane for engine and transmission. No idea on vibration yet as I'm at the same stage you are pretty much, just expecting much less HP:icon17:

phunk 01-10-2019 02:41 PM

Coincidentally I was just speaking to someone on FaceBook about solid motor mounts a hour ago... since its relevant to this thread at the moment I will copy and paste my take on them:

I dont think youd regret the solid motor mounts. Lots of people have concern for the vibration... The VQ has very little with solid aluminum engine mounts. The only time you really notice a lot of vibration is when the starter is cranking the engine. But it actually feels kind of neat, like this firm sort of engaging vibration that makes you feel like you can tell exactly whats going on. When the engine is running and driving, you dont really feel any additional vibration unless you lug the engine (when you try and accelerate at too low of RPM and the engine bogs). Otherwise it just feels very positive and solid. Ive never heard of someone disliking solid engine mounts in a VQ Z. Now the trans mount, that is a different story. A solid trans mount is very loud and I dont recommend those.. I recommend urethane for those.

Spooler 01-10-2019 03:37 PM

I will order my solids tonight. LOL

Spooler 01-10-2019 07:21 PM

I just ordered the CJ motorsports solid motor mounts. This will go well with all of my other CJ Motorsport parts. I have a laundry list. LOL

You're going to need a separate trailer just for your parts for when you go to MAM to deliverer the Z. :rofl2:

Spooler 01-10-2019 08:05 PM

I splurged and paid more for the Nismo Red SPL solid subframe bushing. Ordered them from Z1 tonight also.

Thank you! I am only sad that you will be deprived of opening the box and playing with them.

If I get that intake one day and have it anodized red, that will be even better. LOL I need to see how it all fits together first.

I feel like im spamming your thread right now but we will have the charge pipe stuff worked out pretty soon. The engine is in the car now and we just finished building the forever intercooler reproduction jig for our normal intercooler. Any day we will weld on his intercooler mounts and lower end tank, then we will fix it up to the car and do a 3D scan to design the upper end tank and charge pipe around.

No worries. I needed motor mounts anyway and now I don't have to use the ugly Z1 mounts. I got perty ones.

Not trying to hijack Spoolers thread but your inbox is still full. Did you have a chance to get the level sensor mounts machined for the twin pump set up? Thanks

True story ~ No foolin'
And you wonder why builds take so long

In all fairness to CJ (Phunk)
I've only had regrets when I've bought less than the best.

Charles has always had that passion that drives him to create and provide the best.

My car has his Stage 2 fuel rails along with the Twin Fuel Pumps (AAM twin fuel pumps are too complicated to work so I replaced them with CJM on the advice of MA-M)

The CJM I/C was also recommended by MA-M because the AAM Stage 1 wasn't sufficient.
The Intake Air Temps were going warm on Low Boost Pump Gas...not a good thing.

The CJM I/C promptly corrected that issue...no mo' worries
Glad I waited .

:tiphat: to Charles @ CJM

I hope I can get my car up their soon. I need new rear tires but I am apprehensive to install any due to the low temps up there. I don't need new tires cracking.

Spooler 01-16-2019 06:45 PM

I need another set of wheels. Deciding on tires is a pain in the butt. I have 2 choices. Bridgetone S007A for daily driving and Toyo R888r's for fun.

Spooler 01-16-2019 06:53 PM

Guess I need to call Kamispeed tomorrow or steal Rusty's checkbook for some Forgelines. LOL

We got some plans in the works to get Rusty's wheels. We could use a good get away driver though! :icon17:

Seriously, I need to order a new set of wheels to for switching things around. Any wheel catching your eye currently?
