Noop, I already told you I hate a T5, T56..... They suck. I will spend 25k on a Hollinger Sequential before I put a T56 in my car.

Spooler 10-25-2021 10:38 PM

FYI, Put my car on the dyno at SOHO Saturday. 17psi it was fine. The pressure gauge then started acting funky. Turned it up to 27psi after a couple of runs. It puked coolant out the reservoir. The gauge acted funky and only read 8spi so we knew we had to redo it without the gauge. They are working on getting it wired up differently without the gauge. Needless to say, the heads are for sure lifting. So, the motor has to come out.

Spooler 10-25-2021 11:01 PM

I guess I will find out if Mark is going to stick to his word and fix it. That was the agreement when I first had him build my engine. If the heads lift, he would fix it. He has been good to me and I hope he does the right thing. If not, I will deal with it. When things don't go right, You find out what you are made of. That's for sure.

Spooler 10-25-2021 11:10 PM

I hope you guys understand how much this sucks. I knew it when it happened. I am for sure disappointed and just pissed off. It's not all peaches and cream building a car.

Spooler 10-25-2021 11:15 PM

I thought about whether I should post what I did above. I have been honest the whole thread. That's who I am. I won't change it even if it hurts. It has sucked a couple of times, that is for sure.

JLarson 10-26-2021 06:00 AM

Sorry to hear it, Spooler. Hope Mazworx gets it sorted out for you.

Spooler 10-26-2021 08:22 AM

For all the other little shops that say their Dicky Do process is the fix and their heads don't lift I call bullchit. Dynosty head gasket fix my big old butt.

Spooler 10-26-2021 08:49 AM

Kyle at Tidperformance has the Dynasty headgasket fix. He made one run at Pocono and puked coolant everywhere. He won't admit he had a headgakset issue but we all know what happened. Mr. Squeeze was there. For some reason folks want to hide and not tell the truth when they break stuff. I don't know why that is. To me it pisses me off.

Some folks may actually be so invested in their build that they don't wanna give away information that could potentially save others money. I know you have been a little wishy washy in this build thread with what you have discovered through this process and the difficult and expensive lessons learned. I get things change and sometimes emotions can run high and lead to saying certain things, but maybe in this instance, a little internal reflection may be beneficial.

These are my experiences. Take it or leave it. You have to realize I am having to sift through a ton of misinformation. So yes, It may appear wishy washy. I just found out that Mark did my setup on his build with a billet VQ35DE block. I didn't know that at the time mine was built. He thought it would hold with no issues. It didn't. So here I am.

I know I know but it’s fast

Spooler 10-26-2021 09:25 AM

Back in January of 2020 when I was trying to figure out what to do, SOHO's current build was still new and in testing phase. It had not been released nor had they talked about it. I actually went to SOHO and saw what they were doing the following week after I lifted my heads. I think it was on a Monday. This is one time I went left and I should have went right. I can't change that decision.

I wasn't referring to your experiences, I was referring to your willingness to share knowledge. A couple times, if I recall correctly, you have claimed to be fully transparent with everything in your build in order to assist the community. Then you seemingly change direction and say that you aren't because of the investment made.
The optics of messaging just had me confused. That's what I meant by wishy washy.
Your build/thread, do you what you want. You've still done a lot to pave the way for future FI builds, so props to you.

Your right. I have said I don't want to share anymore. I have about 140k invested but I still keep sharing. I can't help myself. I am who I am.

cv129 10-26-2021 09:55 AM

To be fair though, and this is for certain posts that pop up in my head (don’t know if they are the same ones Dave referred to), somethings aren’t for Spooler to share. I view the solutions be as intellectual property, and Spooler paid for the right to use it, but not to openly reveal for others to copy.

javi370z 10-26-2021 09:56 AM

Hope Mazworx gets it right for you. I want to see you hit your goal and enjoy it after going through this whole journey

Spooler 10-26-2021 10:32 AM

Tests are done and it is ugly. Installed a Haltech pressure sensor and logged with Ecuteck. Radiator cap is 19.8lbs.

18psi of boost - 26psi of coolant pressure.
27psi of boost - 39psi of coolant pressure.

Spooler 10-26-2021 11:53 AM

A good reading is between 8 - 14 psi after a pull.

Similar boost on his with absolutely no i
Headlift issue?

If so, maybe you are having excess stretch in the threads between the block and the studs. Do they use helicoils or some other form of threaded insert on your block?

He made 1200whp no issues. The crank exploded and he was done with it. Not enough interest. He ran 7.8’s

I can't get into details but his headstuds were different in his billet block. I just do not know those details. Since his was a billet block he could do more things to help with headlift. My build used L1900 head studs with the factory threads. He ran way more boost than me but I do not know his compression ratio.

That question just got answered today. I am good in that department.

Spooler 10-27-2021 08:11 AM

Looks like Ryan will have the new Mazworx upgrades installed on his engine. I talked to him last night. Seb will be testing it out. This works for me because I wanted to wait until next year anyways. I just want to putt around in my car and enjoy it for a little while before going back under the knife.

Spooler 10-27-2021 08:16 AM

If this doesn't work out I will have no choice but to go with plan B.

I am struggling to figure out where I want to be when all this is done. I almost want to go back to 11:1 and keep my existing turbos the way they are. I really enjoyed the car the way it was on the first engine. It was a ton of fun to drive.

If you’re ok with 850whp to stay safe keep your set up. But you’re not you want more power. Go with the biggest turbos you can fit in that location. Or save the money and Dct swap. But you need to address those IAT’s

I know I do. Increasing the compression ratio back to 11:1 will help with that. I can run less boost and get the same power, keep the same turbo response, upgrade to my larger exhaust housings. The sucky part is whatever I do it will be all me. I have nobody to compare notes too.

Spooler 10-27-2021 01:49 PM

I am going back to 11:1 no matter what.

Spooler 10-27-2021 01:52 PM

I know I need to go to the latest and greatest turbo design. That is the Garret G series. Like I said, Garrett G30-770 is my choice. Will they fit without a ton of mods? I do not know.

Spooler 10-27-2021 01:59 PM

All I know is I am not going for round 4. Round 3 is going to need to be proven. We all know who has proven that. That's all I have to say about that. If I hurt some peoples feelings, nothing I can do about it.

I put a 160* thermostat in, a Hypertech Stage II chip, 25% underdrive on the pulleys and an epoxy plenum & runners. It was so much fun to see the look on 5.0 driver's faces when my 85 would beat them. :roflpuke2:

The big challenge with the C4 & C5s was the VATS, too many people kept half a hundred keys on a key ring and then couldn't figure out why the car wouldn't start. I lost count of how many VATS bypass cables I installed.

You know, I really dig the c4 vettes. Might actually be my favorite exterior style wise, kinda boxy and timeless like a z32 imo.
