Dyno run scheduled for Aug 6th at Z1. I hope I have the leaked fixed by then. I'll be pulling the front fascia off this afternoon and going back over all of the couplers. Then I will rig up a pressure test and make sure there are no leaks.

I do remember that a couple of the joints were not all that tight of a fit and I had to really crank down on the clamps. I'm wondering about building up the tube with some tape so that the coupler fits better. I'm thinking that the silicone coupler is not squeezing down smooth on the inside and that may be causing the leaks.

I'm open to suggestions!

If you've got couplers that want to pop off, hosing the pipe down with hairspray will help it stay in place.

TopgunZ 08-01-2016 11:27 AM

Just start with the pressure test. That will point you in the area of concern and go from there.

TBatt 08-02-2016 09:21 AM

I found the problem.......the moron that did the installation (me) left the clamps loose on the coupler that connects the outlet of the intercooler to the Y pipe. How I was getting 7psi is amazing.

Now I can't get any traction to do WOT. Friday the Quaife will be installed so that should help. This car has become a BEAST!

Will the FI tow bar fit around the intercooler on the A2A setup?
370Z Front Tow Bar, Fast Intentions

TopgunZ 08-02-2016 10:24 AM

I dont know if it would. I think left to right would be ok, but not sure on depth. Id call and ask them if they would accept a return if it doesn't fit. They are pretty cool, reasonable guys so i am guessing it wouldnt be a problem.

On my Gamma V3 kit they just use spacers to attach the factory tow bar.
In my particular case the spacers weren't big enough, nor could I grab enough threads on the inner 4 studs.... However, I did make up my own spacer/hardware setup that did work and spaced my factory tow bar out about 9mm. The bumper and foam reinforcement seem to still fit just fine. =)

That is great to know. I should have done another check while I had everything apart last night.

I believe that JWillis has the FI tow bar installed. Maybe he can give you better insight on the fitting.

Mine isn't Topgunz kit but I'm sure you will have more than enough room. I just took the pics off my phone but I will find you one.

I just got in my Tial. The v clamp seems like it's too small for the tial flange (adapter) and the flange on the T pipe. Am I doing something wrong or is the clamp too small? http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...f76e772b6c.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...9b429b9da0.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...e6420c90a9.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...2aad07491c.jpg

You have the wrong clamp. You need the 50mm one.

What was the part number for the clamp you used? This is what I got. I guess it's 38mm? http://www.verociousmotorsports.com/...Clamp-Assembly

Yes the QRJ is smaller. You need to go to the older valve section and get a 50mm one.

Got it. Looks like I'll have to source one locally. Did you have to put an oring or anything between the flanges before clamping them together?

Thanks man. I just found the correct one on Amazon and I can get it same day. Almost had the damn thing welded because no one carries 2" V bands. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Just wanted to show a pic of TopgunZ kit for people who are curious, I have the pieces setting how they should go together .... TopgunZ let me know if I have something out of place

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g7...0354608737.jpg

TopgunZ 08-06-2016 05:31 PM

Looks good man.

Just so people aren't confused, brackets, block off plate and gasket maker come with it too.

BOLIO 671 08-08-2016 03:37 AM

Just to clarify...the pipe with the BPV in the pic by the intercooler only fits a 25mm and u would have to purchase an upgraded pipe on eBay for a 50mm flange in order to run the Tial right?

Yes this is correct and you would then need 2 couplers and two 2.5" t bolt clamps. However, if you let me know in advance I will send the couplers and clamps instead of the T-coupler.

I also would like to point out that even though you have a 6 rib belt vs. 7 you are still getting like 85% more grip.

6 ribs vs 7 = 15% less.... 2" of wrap vs now 4" = 100% more. 85/100 = 85% more grip!!

Do you plan on doing any tests to see how much psi you gain from it? Did you have a solid baseline before the install? It wouldnt be too hard to throw the old belt on and just bypass this if you didnt.

Just finished up digging through the Gates belt sizes and found a 8 rib belt that will work with the additional idler pulley that Pauly Z is using. Now to figure out how to remove one rib so that it matches the 7 rib serpentine. The 8 rib is K081088. I wonder what the minimum order to have a custom made belt is. I'm pretty sure that they make these as drums and simply slice them to the correct width. The printed label kind of gives that away.

Does anyone know what size idler pulley he used? What about using the SC idler pulley? Its off now because I went to a larger idler because of the smaller SC pulley.

TopgunZ 08-08-2016 04:20 PM

Its a 2" pulley. Is the supercharger idler a 2"?

TBatt 08-08-2016 04:59 PM

I think so. I will have to check when I get home. Drove the truck today.

I have sent a message to Gates about the possibility of getting a seven rib belt made. It never hurts to ask.....

milkcow500 08-08-2016 06:40 PM

Hey guys, is this correct? I installed the tial, but I'm only getting half my psi now. I don't remember the coupler to the sc being crimped so badly. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...0138849bb8.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...809938982c.jpg

Yeah no way it can be that crimped. Adjust the couplers on the intercooler and BOV and pull the pipes out where they aren't as deep into the couplers but make sure there is at least 3/4-1" of the pipe still inside the coupler where the clamps can get a good grip. That should straighten up that coupler on the volute quite a bit where it isn't crimped like that.

milkcow500 08-09-2016 03:35 PM

Thanks guys. I was adjusting it for a good 1-2 hours last night, but no luck. I'm going to try messing with it again tonight/tomorrow. I'm also going to purchase a couple hump hose couplers for the bottom. I'm hoping that'll help me out a bit as well. I'm really trying to avoid swapping out for a 90 degree coupler.

TopgunZ 08-09-2016 03:40 PM

Did any of the guys that went with the Tial setup run into this issue?
