right? my thoughts exactly. to me it's like this, if you almost drown in the ocean, you're going to stay away from oceans. if you blow a motor from being stupid, you *probably* won't continue to make stupid decisions.

better safe than sorry is how i feel.

Congrants on the build! I made the same decision as you in terms of the motor part. I have never experience a blown motor like you but i did not felt like going thru that in the first place so i deciced to build it also althought just running 450whp which is hardly pushing it. Just waiting for my turn to upgrade to ECUteck to push the sucker.

Im not talking about how it's nothing... I was simply saying that most people who build their motors and go E85 shoot for more than 600whp. For what it's worth, I have blown my motor too. Aug 9th actually. If I were to build my motor and use E85 I'd be shooting for a little higher. Hell id still probably shoot for 600whp on a stock motor with E85. I may not drive it like I used to on a 600hp tune though.

I understand your reasoning though OP. I was just curious, not hating. Good luck on your build bro. Getting it back will be a sweet sweet day.

Thanks very much! Different approaches for different people based on their experiences. It's certainly a legitimate question about power goals, this is just my method. Although you were wrong about just one thing, I am not a bro

Haha whoops. I'm sorry!

In regards to how much power the motor can handle, I don't know. Mine let go at 532hp and 500tq. I did drive mine hard though. I'll likely just throw a used motor back in and call it a day.

That approach makes sense and I'm sure would work well for anyone. Unfortunately in my case, I have a bad problem of driving hard and fast as he!!. I can't help it! These cars are just too fun

I know that there are others out there pushing over 600whp on E85 and a Tune with a stock block, but I don't think that's gonna last long...I would've opted like katjmmx and built the motor to ensure longevity. ...

Out of curiosity on this topic.....what are safe numbers to push on a stock block and Internals?

Everyone has their own idea of whats "safe" but DJTODD is running over 600whp and tracks the sh!t out of his car. With the right supporting mods, and a quality tune these motors can take a lot more power than people originally thought.

I remember 6 years ago when 400whp was fast and was the quest for most people! Then there was the whole "Real fun starts at 500whp" deal. And now 600 is becoming the new norm for a fast car..lol.. Gotta love technology I guess.
