Default Winter project - headlight mods, LED's finished.

Thinking of a possible winter project. Decided to go with headlight mods, have a spare driver side in good shape and a junk passenger one that I bought off ebay to test with.

Plan on doing the halo's, paint and a mod to the turn signal housing, want to do a LED accent (not a DRL), but not sure if I want a landing strip. Want these to be on during the dusk/dawn hours when the headlights are not a neccessity. These are just stickon's I bought from a hobby store but give a good idea of what I'm trying to do. Yes/No? Not sure what color scheme the housing will be yet. Spacing wise, they are .875" apart. Was plan on using some LED's that are only .289" in length with a slight dome so it wouldn't protrude much into the housing, the best effect would be from the side except for the ones along the front which I believe would be seen straight on also. The red stickons are just a representation, I would be using white led's. Flame suit on.

I'm interested to see what you come up with. For now, I'm not feeling it. Maybe it's just because they are red, but something just doesn't seem to work well as you have shown.

I know the reflection up front is making it look busy. Housing will be painted so that will eliminate that. I didn't want to put too much into it up front in case I didn't like it.

Gathered a few things, drilled a few holes, think I may have something to my liking. Here are a few pictures, still need to run the one leg down the side. Color is hyper silver but may change that.

Holes drilled, a few are off and have to start my pattern at the parking light, housing portion doesn't offer much room.

LED's and resistors came in the mail, figured I would a quick wiring up and see how it will look. I am not after DRL's, more of an accent.

Finished the LED's, here's a couple of pics, actually like how it turned out. The wiring as is was just to get it to light up. Going to order some LED inserts to see how much space they take, might give it a more finished look and also no liking using a glue or silicone to keep them in place. Here's a couple of pics, will do a single halo for main beam, chrome bulb for the turn signal to eliminate the egg yolk. Matching LED's for the side markers.

Nice work! I like the fact you are trying your ideas out on the spare sets to get a feel for it! Good luck on the finished project!
