Illuminated kick Plate install?

Does anyone know if the wiring is there for installing the illuminated kick plate?

No. You have to run the wiring from the install location on each rocker to the T-harness location on outside of the passenger footwell. For the drivers side, that means under the carpeting and behind the center console.

I just did this last week on my 2014. It's pretty straightforward, the instructions are fairly good, and there's a pretty good DIY pictorial here on this diet. All you really need is a fairly good panel removal tool. About $10 at Autozone.

So prior to the 2014 you didn't have to run the driver side wiring to the passenger side??

I don't know. Based on the instructions and on the DIY, it looks to me like that's always been required. Only difference I can see with the 2014 is that the styrofoam dead pedal support doesn't lift up to route the drivers side wiring underneath. There's enough wire that if still reaches just fine.

That panel removal tool? I found "door trim removal tool", I see two types. One the end is notched wide then jogs down to a smaller one. And a U shaped end on one. Which is better.

Something like this worked fine for me. $10 or so from Autozone.

Or use the ten digits God gave ya. Those panels are not that hard to pull out.

Thanks, I've seen something similar. It's basically just to pop those fasteners upward, putting the pressure at the right point.
My Roadster came with the illuminated kick plates, and this new Coupe I just got looks bare without them.

Well, I got 'em installed , no big ee. The DIY info from several years ago was very helpful since the instructions that came with it leave a a lot ??? As far as the "nylon trim removal tool" , I made my own from a nylon spatula handle. Just sanded the forward edge down from both sides to a point. I had the illuminated kick plates on my previous Z, and this new one seemed naked without them.

Good idea on the spatula! I drove to 3 auto parts places looking for one.

This was super easy, I just did mine the other day and I'm not that great at working on cars.

You simply remove all the trim panels which is easy, takes a slight (literal) amount of force to pull them apart, I didn't break anything. Then you run the wire. I used a coat hanger to assist getting the wire to the drivers side but that was about it.

Me (80%) and a friend (20%) tackled it in about hour
