I just did this last week on my 2014. It's pretty straightforward, the instructions are fairly good, and there's a pretty good DIY pictorial here on this diet. All you really need is a fairly good panel removal tool. About $10 at Autozone.
So prior to the 2014 you didn't have to run the driver side wiring to the passenger side??
