Just got my weathertech's today. On the install instructions it says to that you must take out the stock floor mats for proper fit and not to stack them on

Just got my weathertech's today. On the install instructions it says to that you must take out the stock floor mats for proper fit and not to stack them on top. Did you guys take out your stock mats or just put them on top...does it really make any difference on fit?
