:iagree:

I'd like to see someone try it... maybe with glossifier. Speaking of Glossifier, after about a month of waiting I finally got some shipped. Gonna wait for a defect on the wheels/emblems/door handles though before I try it out on top of black. I know this stuff is somewhat easy to take off but it still takes time trying to get the tiny spots on the wheels etc.

That's the coolest thing about it. I want to use it this weekend. But there's no way I could get it here in time for this weekend. So I'll have to use the black that I already bought. Plus I can't seem to find it online yet. I just happen to see this today on there FB page.

So plasti dip is tacky?

koffeegy 04-05-2012 10:54 AM

No it is not. I think he meant, "tacky" as in christmas lights, holloween, easter, and thanksgiving decorations up all year long in a neighborhood bar type of tacky.:icon18:

To each his own but I don't think blacking out emblems and door handles is tacky. I personally like my emblems and door handles the way they came from the factory.

Now if guys were using it to paint stripes on their hood that's a different story.

AchilleZ 04-05-2012 11:36 AM

Im just not a fan of the flat black look. Is there plasti dip that comes out in a glossy black? If so, then Im interested.

I saw a 350 this morning with racing stripes. It was next to a Mustang at a light. I couldn't tell them apart :inoutroflpuke:

They have a glossifier you can spray over it to give it a glossy finish.

Only reason I chose to plasti dip my car is because it's removable. I don't plan on keeping my car forever so it's a lot cheaper/easier than having to get everything repainted.

My other option is to get carbon fiber handles and emblems however, the price difference is certainly favoring the plasti dip. Im going to have cf fangs, cf mirror covers, cf license plate cover, and cf rear diffuser.

Just some advice, you'll probably need a lot of coats to get the glossiness that you're looking for. Probably 4-5 coats of the glossifier minimum.

No matter what I want, it seems it will cost lots of money or lots of time. Looks like I just might do plasti dip. My curiosity is getting the better of me.

Same thing happened with me. I used the glossifier on my emblems, which is why I know you'll need a lot of it :p

Why not try something that is completely removable? Go for it and peel it off if it looks bad. Its $20... nuff' said. :tiphat:

Would anyone be willing to buy me severals cans of the stuff and ship it to Australia?

Local resellers here are gouging them for about $35/can...

For anyone else looking at this thread. You should newspaper the entire front and back of your car. You would be surprised how far specs of that can go. Easy to get off, but if you're like me, just put the extra newspaper on to prevent it.

:iagree:

I had to clay bar my car to get some off that I had missed a couple weeks ago.

Ouch! Plasti Dip has become more popular, so demand is higher. Retailers are taking advantage of that. OR Austrailia just sucks.

Good luck. I think I'll go stock up some more cans.

Find out how much it would be to ship from the states to Australia. I can get the cans at Lowes for $6.

Gauge 04-08-2012 10:04 PM

OK two things, newspaper your entire car, this **** gets everywhere.

And second, slather this on. Do 4 or 5 coats. If you put it on this it doesn't come off well. I have to redo my entire rear because of this. Just do yourself a favor and slather this on THICK.

Also, I don't know who said it comes off easy, but it doesn't. I wanted to take this off my rear emblems to try again, and it doesn't come off the lettering easy. There are little black spots all over it that I can't get. I'm actually fairly angry at how not flawless this went considering how many people posted on here. I'm shocked no one was run into these issues yet. I honestly would just take it off if I thought I could. But since I don't think I can I'm going to coat over it thicker and hope it looks good.

b1adesofcha0s 04-08-2012 10:27 PM

Yeah you have to put it on really thick and let it dry completely before trying to pull it off. I had like 11 total coats on my door handles and it was super easy to peel off the next day.

Gauge 04-09-2012 07:23 AM

I did 3 coats and it wasn't thick enough to stretch so I could pull it off. Hopefully my second attempt goes better. Still angry. Wish someone would have mentioned that lol.
