So while the front clip (OEM paint) still gets sand blasted from the track debri the plastic dipped section is holding up great. So what better and cheap way to maintain my kit from debri.

 def a great way to keep it protected

Damn, forgot to take pics of emblems. I'll try to remember tomorrow. It started to rain before the plasti dip on the handles was fully dried so they started peeling.

For sure. I did at least 4 coats on the fangs on my previous bumper. No knicks in it until I hit a deer. And all the deer did was put the smallest knick in it w its hoof. Should def hold up on the track.

Question how do you guys stop the dip from sticking to the paint tape. When I pulled the tape some bits of the dip came with it. I figure Ill just redo the little area but I wanna make sure it won't happen again.

I left an inch gap with the tape around what I was spraying. Don't put the tape right on the intended target.

As promised, here are the pics of my plastidipped emblems. I will probably have to redo the 370Z badge because I started peeling it off before it was completely dried so it didn't come off so cleanly.

I have the same issue, and i'm scared to get an Exacto anywhere near the clear coat.

Get edge lock tape from 3m and make sure all the tape lays perfectly flat on the surface and remove the tape after your done spraying. It worked great for me perfect lines now.

2 of my wheels started peeling around where the lug nuts are. I guess I didn't spray enough in that area :(

I think I've found the best use for plasti dip yet. Here's an April Fools prank I played on my cousin and his BMW 650i. A little NSFW so I'll put it in a spoiler (just has the "F" word)

It's a good thing he knew about plasti dip. The setup was the best part. I did it at night right before I left his house and posted pics on facebook after he went to sleep. He saw the pics in the morning, went outside, and started freaking out .

His lame attempt to get revenge was to try and seran wrap my car, but my car was too low for him to get underneath it. Took only like 20 seconds to pull it off my car.

b1adesofcha0s 04-02-2012 01:28 PM

Going to give plasti dip another shot. Gonna try to spot fix where the wheels are peeling by spraying really close/using a paint brush. Doesn't really have to look perfect since it's in an area no one would really look or notice much (the area surrounding the lug nuts). Also going to redo the "370Z" badge and be more patient this time. Going to do this in the back of my apartment complex's parking lot so I don't have to worry about using someone else's garage/driveway so I don't have to try and rush it.

Huck 04-02-2012 02:01 PM

Just my 2¢, but I wouldn't use a toothbrush. That just doesn't sound pretty at all. Patience is the key. For your lug nut holes just do 5 or 6 slower, heavier passes and let it dry in between coats, like 15-20 minutes each coat. For your burgers, make sure you get the underside of the top arch, that's the spot I had to go back and do because I did it at night and didn't see that I kinda missed that spot.

Who said anything about a toothbrush? I was talking about using a paint brush. The wheels came out nicely, but the problem is just with the first 2 wheels I did where I didn't spray enough near the lug nut holes. The last 2 wheels were better after using what I learned from doing the first 2. I don't have enough plasti dip metalizer left to redo the whole wheel and I'm not paying to buy more if this will fix it.

fuct 04-02-2012 03:35 PM

ohh no man!!!! those wheels looked sick polished... :(

USAF_troop 04-02-2012 03:57 PM

Took my time and it came out alright for $30 and a few hrs of time.

I didn't like the feel of the door handles with plasti dip on them, so I think I will just leave them as they are.

The other side is still polished. I just plastidipped the white side.

USAF_troop 04-02-2012 06:18 PM

It does feel sorta weird. But I didn't do the inside so it doesn't bother me that much. It completes the look I was going for, for much less $$ than I originally planned. I'll keep it this way for a while and maybe change it up later and do a gloss black reg paint job on the handles and gloss black powder coat the wheels.

fuct 04-04-2012 03:10 PM

...you guys amaze me.

how about a set of these to match?
