thanks. for smooth surfaces you dont need to use primer/adhesion promotor, but on textured surface it is needed. depending on the radius of the corners i would either just wrap it eactly to shape with no over lap, or heat it and stretch it over onto the backside of the trim where you can use other tapes/adhesives to make it a permanent wrap as needed.

Now how is it gonna hold up to the engine bay heat? 3m tested it to 150*F but the bay gets hotter than that.

im not sure, we'll find out. i scorched the film real good though past 150F so it doesn't shrink or change shape any more.

I guess kenchan beat me to it. Now let us know how it will hold up after some time. BTW, I didn't know the engine cover was in two pieces...wow, I learned something new.

That looks really good. Seems like the vinyl is pretty easy to work with.

I consider wrapped CF items "rice" by definition anyway since they're absolutely useless for performance, so I might as well just go with the vinyl stuff since it honestly has the same look. I wonder how it looks with a thick clear coat or gel over it. Hmmm

Wrapping exterior items is kinda rice-ish to me, but a few interior things that no one can carbon fiber is alright with me.

It's OK in my opinion if the items are really just cosmetic anyway (i.e. you couldn't save any weight with a carbon fiber replacement). Badges, grille covers, mirror covers, etc. To wrap your hood or fenders in CF vinyl or real CF would be kind of trashy... I'm beginning to really dislike CF panels anyway except on black of dark grey cars. It's really, really played out at this point. Just too clashy for my tastes.

I can't imagine doing that to a BMW, the sun must have killed it by now.
