3M DINOC Carbon Vinyl Wrap

Has anyone tried the 3M Carbon Fiber wrap on any interior parts yet? Curious how this turns out.

I'm not just saying this because we do carbon fiber parts.. But that stuff IMO belongs on my next door neighbors 92 honda crx along iwth those fake carobn fiber fender vents.

CF stickers is something you get when you purchase a car under 30K like the dodge challenger. That is loaded with cake carbon fiber which is real ricy.

Again IMO. Yes it is cheaper but if its good its not cheap, if its cheap its not good.

IMO

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

^ I just noticed I said "cake carbon fiber" I meant fake...

Well the main thing you want to think of is when you look at it will you be able to live with the thought of, "that looks nice, too bad its not real"?

Not only that the vinyls are easy to scratch and are most likely not chemical resistant. They coudl also peal when nicked by a key or something. With real parts you have the clear coat to protect the carbon fiber since carbonf iber is not UV resistant by itself with out a nice thick UV resistant clear coat.

I, by no means, am defending it...But I coulda sworn I saw a GTR at a car show that had this 'new' CF wrap from 3M that actually looked like it had a real weave to it. Not that flat/2D looking ultra fake looking stuff...I heard it fooled alot of people.

If thats true, and its a thicker '3D' looking wrap, I can see alot of people using that instead of wraping the fangs or rear valence with a flat black overlay, because, well...it would fool alot of people...

this is what that new 3M wrap looks like...Its supposed to mimic DRY carbon.

One rule of life: you get what you pay for. No if's, and's, or but's. It's really that simple. You can try it. Personally I'd rather have it professionally done, but you could try it. Neat idea.

I personally wouldnt do that and agree that its always better to replace then cover with this film but on the other hand, its no different them applying vinyl graphics, racing stripes or anything else. If you like it then do it and who gives a crap what others think.

One note though...these people that put chrome trip around every damn edge of their car...the hood, trunk, doors etc. These people are NUTS! I saw a hummer on the freeway a few weeks ago, guy had like 60 of those chrome pegasus things on his roof....WTF~~~~????

I agree that 'wrapping' in true CF and clear coating is just a glorified, more robust 'sticker'. That vinyl costs $65 for a 12" x 48" piece...not a terrible price to play around with possibilities but still expensive for a sticker. I may play with some on some interior parts. The parts are pretty cheap to replace if need be anyway (order on CourtesyNissan).
