Default Clutch for supercharged Z

Just supercharged my z and other than a borla exhaust it's all stock. A few weeks later, I was driving normally one day and I go to shift into 5th and my car made a terrible noise. The next day I noticed the clutch feeling spongy and about half my hp and torque missing. Time for a new clutch!

I'm a total noob to all this so just throw out some stuff for me, or just make a decision for me, and ignore all ignorance I just moved to austin to the less stuff to think about the better.

-I'm hoping to keep it all under 1k (not including labor)
-Car has 475 whp and 358 trq @9psi pumping 91 ( I may upgrade to 93 )
-I will probably enjoy a couple track days now that I'm here
-It's a daily driver but I'm addicted to responsiveness and acceleration
-I have no idea what the purpose of a csc and flywheel are
-And will I need to get another tune or will everything be fine?

The smoother the feel the better (duh?). Noise shouldn't be an issue because I usually blast my music but I don't like rocky alarming sounds. And finally, I don't want it to be super hard to push in. I've been sleeping on the floor waiting for my furniture and I have no friends so I REALLY appreciate the support here

You aren't going to be able to keep it under $1k. You need to purchase Flyhweel/Clutch/Pressure Plate/CSC and most likely a new CMC.

I'm running the following and it holds my power just fine.

Z1 370Z / G37 Clutch and Flywheel Combo

You will also need the ZSpeed HD CSC ($325) or you can go with the Z1 Elimination kit mentioned in the bottom of the link above. With a new CMC and fluid you are looking at ~$1200. There are other setups but they are more expensive. You can get a Southbend setup:

ZSpeed Performance South Bend Complete Clutch Package Stage 2 Daily 370 G37 G35

Everything you need for $1400.

I would expect 5-6 hrs of labor at a good shop.

You do not need a retune but baby the clutch for the first 300-500 miles. Don't slip it, no hard acceleration, etc.

But since you are in Austin and must have moved here from a place with 91 oct. I would recommend taking it to UpRev (since they are local to you now) and have them retune for 93 Oct

I would call Joe@Zspeed, I went with their Quiet Stage 3 setup. This includes clutch/flywheel/csc, all the fluids and new master cylinder. I run 400HP and the pedal is a little stiffer but still daily drive-able, though that term can vary per person of course.

Joe is a knowledgeable dude. You tell him exactly what you are looking to get out of your new setup and he'll put together the package you need

Who is doing the work? If you don't have anyone in Austin lined out and NW isn't too inconvenient, I highly recommend Kevin at Austin Z Clinic.

For your products, I will reiterate the Joe at ZSpeed option. Great prices and fantastic customer service. Tell him what you need/want and he will give you the best product for you at a great price.

Make sure you upgrade the CSC (ZSpeed offers a heavy duty one and Z1 offers a kit that uses an external slave cylinder). You should get a new CMC at the same time, but if you keep the old one and it dies shortly after, the cost of a new one and labor isn't bad.

IMO I think the best you can get is OS Giken GT2 Grand Touring Twin Disk Clutch Kit. It's expensive but the best performance while still being easy to drive. Or if you want to be crazy and different, Nismo Super Coppermix Twin, rated to 600ftlbs dynamic-1000ftlbs static. But you wont go wrong with the other two options either.

That's a little overkill for a car only making 360wtq

I can't recommend them based on how they handle problems. I wish I had just gone with the Z1 setup. I'd have saved over $1k after all of the extra labor and month of a rental car Specialty Z cost me.

I am very surprised to hear this. We're you dealing with Seb?

Edit: PM me... Would love to know more

**** that, I'll make it public. I was shipped a warped disc and I had to eat the cost of pulling the trans out to replace it. Greg was great about helping until it came out that the disc was warped, when he promptly blamed the installer. RPS shipped out a new disc no questions asked, which he wouldn't have done if it really was installer error. Greg agreed to help pay for labor until we told him what was wrong, when he quickly withdrew the offer and blamed the installer. The whole thing cost me probably an extra $1500 between unneeded parts, labor and rental cars.

And I highly doubt the installer messed up. Although, he is human but I still highly doubt it because the dude is crazy good at what he does.
