It's aluminum, not cast iron. Your shift knob could be vibrating when you scrape for a number of reasons. IIRC there is pretty decent clearance for the transmission case so

Your shift knob could be vibrating when you scrape for a number of reasons. IIRC there is pretty decent clearance for the transmission case so it would be a little difficult to hit right there, but you won't know for sure until you take a look under the car...
