An issue with the CSC or master typically does not result in slippage. If you're in 3rd gear, ~30-35 mph and you nail it, does the rpm increase proportionally to the speed? If rpms shoot up way quickly, then it's definitely a worn clutch. Not covered under warranty unless you can convince them it's due to some other defect.

9,000 miles, if there is something wrong with the pressure plate or slave, it could prevent the clutch from fully engaging. The clutch is definitely not worn, especially since this change happened immediately after that pop during a normal shift.

Indeed. At 9K miles, friction plate should have plenty of life left. Sounds like your clutch wear is secondary to whatever happened originally. Good luck!

Mileage: 17000

Happened to me today. Driving to the gym and clutch started to feel a bit weird, but thought my seat was just misadjusted and didn't think about it. Coming home, clutch fell right down and then the engagement was on the floor, and then nowhere at all, and wouldn't return. Stopped at a red light and couldn't get moving again
Clutch fluid level looked fine, might have even been above max, but looked very dirty.

Once I figured out how to drive without a clutch, limped to the nearest dealership and it's sitting there now waiting to be looked at.

Clutchless shifting and using the starter to get moving (while clutch pedal is to the floor)?

Good news, They're replacing the master, slave, and hoses all under warranty.

Got an Altima 2.5S for my troubles.

Year 2009
VIN 409621
Mileage 28000

Happened to me tonight. I noticed that the clutch had been feeling funny but thought it was just because it has been so damn hot here. Well driving normally, slowing for a stop sign, push clutch and lost all pressure. The pedal was stuck to the floor. Behind me was a trail of clutch fluid and fluid is leaking from inside the bell housing. Ill be calling Nissan in the morning and getting it sorted out. I am still under factory bumper to bumper warranty until Sept.

dragonbreath - Be glad you're still under warranty. I'm 3 months past the warranty with 21,000 miles and the CSC went out this weekend. Dealer wants almost $1000 in parts and labor to fix it.

Yeah my local dealer took care of me. Fixing my car, paid for the rental and the tow to Nissan.

The service writer told me that the CSC failure is covered under power train so you should still be under warranty correct?

^^I'd take it to a local shop and install one of the heavy duty CSC's available. Probably a good idea to replace the master too...?

Ended up negotiating them down to $550 for the part and labor. My warranty is expired, but since it is only 3 months past and only 21000 miles, they cut a deal.

Now that it is replaced, the clutch feels better than it ever did even when the car was new. Clutch pressure always felt like a bit too much before and engage points were weird, now it's a bit lighter and shifts from 1st to 2nd are now spot on - no more jerky, shifts... always smooth now unless the operator (me) screws up. It's actually even more fun to drive now.

VIN: (i'll post that later
Purchase Date: 01/31/2010
Occurrence Date: 08/07/2012
Occurrence Mileage: 36,000
Clutch Type: OEM

I took it to the Dublin, Ca Nissan Dealership this morning and I just got the call back from them telling me they couldn't figure out what the problem was and that they had to have a Nissan Rep come out to take a look. I don't understand why a Nissan Dealership needs a Nissan Rep to come out and take a look at my clutch but I'm hoping this gets resolved tomorrow. I'll update as I learn more.

UPDATE 8/9/12: Just got the call from Nissan. My master and slave clutch cylinders both failed, they wont have the parts until Monday or Tuesday so I get to keep the Sentra till then. All will be covered under warranty so that's some good news.
