yea....I would but your stick just flops around into all these different directions.

see my stick however stands up stiff with minor movement for maximum effectiveness.

Nothing connects man to machine more than a good stick and clutch. Clicking paddles will never be the same as a perfect shift around a corner. Don't get me wrong; the new generation of automatics are great, but they simply can't match the feel of a good stick.

Default I drive the 7AT and its not going so well

I constantly get questioned or bashed for driving an automatic z. I am really wishing i got the 6 speed now. Those who drive the auto, how do you guys handle this situation?

Im just getting very annoyed and it's taking the fun out of the car for me.

Suck it up and stand by your own decision. If you wanted the 7at to begin with, don't let what other people say cause you to second guess yourself. Unless, of course, you didn't put enough thought into the decision in the first place and you see the validity in others' arguments. In which case, awfully cavalier with $40k aren't we?

Either way, Good luck.

LOL

the problem is not that they make fun, Its that you get bothered.
Now ill grant you manuals, And i dont mean specific to the z, Even a civic manual is loads of fun. Just the feel of manual i guess. Atleast thats what it is for me.

But I own a Automatic, And even though i personally have been questioned about why i bought an Auto, I dont really get bothered with it. Auto is just convenient. Just have fun with the car, And with the Z, you cant really get bored anyway.

I get annoyed when people ask me why i bought nissan.

Also flame war incoming on this thread. I can feel it

Would it bother you if people made fun of you because you prefer Redheads to Blondes? Hot dogs vs hamburgers?

Not too long ago, being proficient with a manual transmission was a sign of a True Sports Car Driver. With the pros going to automatics (and man/auto hybrids), that's not so true any more. A manual is a lot of fun and, to old guys like me, still has a certain cachet to it, but is no longer a requirement for Sports Car status. YMMV

Great quote from Andrew Frankel in Motorsport magazine speaking of the limited return of real manual transmissions in a couple up coming Porsche models and even a Jaguar, "The odd thing is I don’t detect any great realignment of public opinion behind the fitment of manual gears to high-end sports cars and supercars. The truth in most cases is that these cars are bought more by people who want to look good than drive hard. By both allowing you to change like a racing driver while actually making the business of driving easier, paddle shifts offer a win/win solution to fashion victims who either can’t or can’t be bothered to changed gear smoothly. And they’re quicker around the Nürburgring too, as if that actually mattered." Man who speaks the truth.

Wish I gotthe M6 too, HOWEVER, I love the 7AT as much as I can love the auto. I will be paying off the car and worse comes to worse I can also tranny swap it, to cope with no manual, my DD will for sure be Manual! ( the Z AT is the best AT ive driven) have also tried tons of AMGS and some BMWs to no match.

Tell them this: In fact most super cars are AT with paddles. The AT is quicker than your 6MT.

With the new generation of motor trending the manual is a dying breed. Even the Porsche GT3 and Nismos are AT. Its the age of the quickest numbers now.

Time will come only a handful of skilled drivers would know how to drive manuals.

I bet most people who commented on you driving an AT they don't even own a sports car?
