Favorite Synthetic Oil

Gang,

I have used Mobil 1 in everything I own for the last several years. My 03 350 has 56K on it and has had Mobil 1 in it since 500 miles. Same for my Toyota X-Runner and Toyota Camry Hybrid. I used it in my 95 and 96 Impala SS's and several cars before them and have had no problems at all. BTW I changed them all at 500 or less miles.

Am I understanding yo change oil every 500 miles?
That's a big unnecessary waste of money,time&effort! Especially the money!
That's over 720 dollars for one car per year, in oil!
The oil us not dirty(unless your tracking). The proprieties haven't had a chance too work.

I think you're misunderstanding his post. He is saying that since his 03 Z hit 500 miles on the odo, he used synthetic oil. (NOT oil change every 500/miles.)

If anyone is running synthetic, there's no reason to change it before 4 to 5K miles (unless you do some SERIOUS tracking)

Dad,

I change oil every 6000 miles and rotate tires and replace air filters at the same time. Its easy to keep track of what needs to be done that way. Sorry for the mix up.

I know 4K-5K for oil changes should be fine, but I grew up changing the oil every 3K miles and I just cannot go that long. I use Mobil 1 and the car is a daily driver, but I do drive aggressive when I get the chance. No matter, once I see that odometer go past 3K miles it bugs me until I change the oil. can't help it, so I just change the oil every 3K miles, even if it is a waste of money.
