Gear Lube in CV to Differential Flnage

The only thing I can think of. This may have been a part before and they coated it with oil to keep from rusting.

Upon further inspection there isn't light shining through the stub so I assume the hole doesn't go all the way through.
there is only a fluid seal between the stub and the carrier housing if you had a leak you would expect fluid to be everywhere except where it is in your photos lol
