The metallic could be casting flash (waggles hand back and forth) or maybe a galley plug, similar to some of the old Ford freeze plugs.
Of the 2, I would lean more towards the galley plug. I can't imagine places where flash that thick would see forces strong enough the break them off. For sure, no machinist is going to leave chips that size on a shipping part. Inspection would have his ***. Kirk B. |
