Default Upcoming Mod Advice

Friends, I have a Vortech A2A supercharged 2011 370z with 80k miles. This means that those pesky gallery gaskets gotta get swapped out before I take her out to the track. I have also come across a deal on some FI Long Tube headers, which I plan on installing while I have the car torn apart for the gallery gaskets, as well as swapping out the motor mounts.

Planned mods:
Gallery gasket
-New gaskets from Z1
-New timing chain tensioner
-New gallery gasket hardware
-New gaskets
Fast Intentions Long Tube Headers
Z1 Poly motor mounts

Is there anything else that I should consider while the car is torn down?

I have cooling for every fluid (OIL, Trans, P.S.), fuel return system, poly mounts for trans and diff, replace valve cover gaskets.

I am considering MAYBE a lightweight (not underdrive) crank pulley (such as AMS or an ATI superdamper).

I am on a semi-limited budget (I told the wife $1000 for the headers, so everything else will have to be a little sneaky haha) and I have sourced all the parts listed under planned mods.

Thanks guys!

Spark plugs if you haven’t done them. Only thing that came to my mind right away. Enjoy the headers!

Search Total D, sponsor that sells the Sucker Punch oil pump gears- here’s pic of the page; he may have an extra.

Change out the water pump for a new Nissan unit. Don't cheap out and go aftermarket.

A nice yet cheap mod would be a wire tuck for the engine bay. That's what I did while changing my gaskets. Also, replace all your OEM hoses with Z1 silicone hoses.

Doesn't exist if you didn't take pictures, document and create a DIY for us plebs lol. But in all seriousness, how difficult was it? I saw the one the was started in the DIY section but since it said he was missing sections I was hesitant to do it myself since it'll be my first time doing so...

+1 If you are FI one area you don’t want to cheap out in is the oil pump I’ve seen some guys in the Z camp lose their engine builds due to catastrophic oil pump failure. Pony up the dough you will thank yourself later on install a Sucker Punch oil pump or boundary oil pump gears. It’s a great idea as Spooler said to replace your water pump it’s cheap insurance do it. FI you will notest your spark plugs will need replacement faster. Replacing your spark plugs is essential. If you have not replaced your engine mount now is the time when you are seeing boost this puts unwanted wear on your engine mount. Polyurethane engine mount is the way to go. Really enjoy those longtube headers they are a excellent improvement and have fun with seeing that boost!

My research indicates that the only oil galley gasket kit worth getting is the EPS kit. The revised Nissan and Z1 kits still use crappy hardware that is prone to stripping and backing out over time

While you're in there I would consider upgrading the oil pump gears and replacing the water pump, as has been mentioned. Go ahead and replace the drive belt, too, although that's pretty easy to do and doesn't require removing the front timing cover.

OG's thread is a little sparse and the pictures are on Photobucket and no longer show up. RidFamous also has a DIY thread with the same title - much more info and the photos are still up. I've got my Z torn down pretty good and am working on the wire tuck. It gets less and less intimidating the further along I get

Thank you guys for all of the input!

I'm not sure I can afford to pick up a Suckerpunch oil pump at the moment, that's a little too much money right now... I may look into changing out the gears or getting a new OEM unit, billet gears and changing them out, but I'm not sure yet.

My spark plugs only have about 10k miles on them, so they should be good for a while longer, but I will check them!

I added an OEM water pump to my cart.

I got the gaskets from Z1, but I will get the EPS upgraded hardware kit to prevent the backing out.

The drive belt is a little trickier since it is a custom made belt by TBatt for his kit. My belt has about 10k ish miles on it right now, but I am going to look into fabricating a replacement belt for the inevitable belt replacement.

For a dampener. Get the ATI. I have one.

With the LTH's. You will lose some boost.
