Default Is it necessary to ger an Oil Cooler?

So I mentioned on my last thread that I feel a lack of throttle response time to time. I've come to the conclusion that every single time the oil temp hits 220 or above, it becomes very sluggish. Anything below, even slightly below 220, car seems to run fine. It's the weirdest **** ever. Ive checked my air filter theyre SLIGHTLY dirty. Its been doing this last year as well and the filters were still mint. Not sure if getting a for example a Mishimoto Oil Cooler would help keep the temp steady at 180 or so. Not tracking the car at all so that's why I feel its unnecessary to get an oil cooler but I'm too anal with my Z. Not sure if a vented hood would help dissipate heat. Not sure. Any input will be appreciated.

Before I got an oil cooler, I was reaching 250 just driving on the freeway with no traffic. I got the Z1 25 row cooler, and my temps have never gone over 210 (in Arizona when it was 110 degrees out). Id get it just to keep the temps down. I wouldnt go with the Mishimoto as Ive heard horror stories about them though.

An oil cooler is absolutely necessary for this car. Yours is pulling timing from overheat. Absolute no to Mishitmoto though. It's like buying your infant a toy made of depleted uranium and painted with lead - you just don't do it.

Go Z1 or FI. I prefer Z1 bc the oil lines have a larger diameter.

What year is your Z?

An oil cooler is a must. When I first got my stock Z(before the trip down the rabbit whole with mods) and was driving it 400 miles home.A little spirited driving would spike the temp.I had just bought the car and this really concerned me.

As other have said, if you do any spirited driving, an oil cooler is a good idea. In your case, since you are hitting the temperature nanny, it sounds like it would be a great idea.

With a good cooler, hood vents shouldn't be necessary.

No way? I thought Mishimoto was always the "go-to" brand? So is it possible for you to send me a link to the Z1 Cooler?

miSHITmoto is nothing more than rebranded Chinese garbage. Stay away!!

The reason you think they are good is because they cheap out on the products to the extreme and then spend all their money on marketing to trick the consumer into thinking the products aren't big pieces of crap.

If by "go-to" you mean "go-to buy a new engine bc the thermostatic plate's o-ring failed and your Z shat all its oil out on the road in about 6 seconds," then yes.
