Default OS Giken Diff fluid.

I figured I would start a thread about this since I have been chasing
drivability issues with my OS Giken 1.5 way Diff. Ever since I have had it
installed in the car I have had popping, binding, and a total pain in the butt
during slow speed tight turns. I researched on here and found a few threads where folks say to only use OS Giken diff fluid 80w250 but no reason why. I have used many different GL-5 fluids. Motul 75w90, Motul 75w140, Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90 all with Redline LSD additive. I did a diff service on my diff tonight and put in the OS Giken fluid. I don't know what they put in it but it flat out works. No more popping, binding, and shimming in the rear. So now if someone does a search they can find out why to use their diff fluid.

I believe the fluid has a anti friction solution added. I use to put a couple of ounces anti-bind additive for GM differentials, in mine. Filled up the diff with Shell Full Synthetic Spirax 75-90W GL-5. Seemed to minimize the popping and grabbing in low speed maneuvers and the GL-5 fluid worked well.

My best guess

Great to know. I just got mine installed with OSG fluid and zero issues.

I put in friction modifier also, Redline. Still sucked. Night and day difference with OS Giken diff fluid.

I always use Motul 75w140 for break in, then the OSG fluid afterwards. You spent plenty of money on the diff, use the right fluid.

I've used the OS Giken lube since I installed the diff. You can't tell if it's working until you nail the gas. It's been smooth. $70.00 a liter is a bit steep tho. With the diff cooler. I need 3.

I have the same problem with my Nismo 2 way. You've convinced me to give the OS Giken fluid a try to see if it will help.

I'll be sure to update whenever the fluid arrives next month

Not sure if this will help a Nismo 2 way. They are cone spring loaded, so it has preload by design
