Every car has a sweet spot for a proper (minimal wheel spin, maximum acceleration) launch. This is GREATLY influenced by tires, tire pressure, road surface, engine RPM and how quick the clutch is released. Generally, lower engine RPM (around 3,000 RPM) with rapid BUT smooth clutch engagement, then nail the throttle should reduce wheel hop. If you do get a little wheel hop, push in the clutch just a little until it stops and release it. Axle hop / wheel hop is VERY, VERY hard on the drivetrain. It is an easy way to break a CV joint. |
