Could have been an oil consumption issue that wasn't found during ownership? I am on my third motor from that, this one though has had zero consumption for 40k miles.

Could have been an oil consumption issue that wasn't found during ownership? I am on my third motor from that, this one though has had zero consumption for 40k miles. Was going through 2q every 1.5k miles. I had no oil on the stick when I first caught it and it was at 3k miles from the first oil change I did, no oil light ever came on....
