Default Stillen Short Throw Shifter

Is there no one else with this? I had this installed and I used the same shift knob and after it is tight, the actualt shifter shaft will start to go around, so it always moves freely and I don't really like this. I have been trying to contact Stillen to see if this is normal. Anyone else know anything about it? Do the other short shifters do this also, like b*m twm, etc?

Don't get the Stillen short throw shifter. They make them in 2 pieces and their seal doesn't hold. I sent it back and they "fixed" it and it was the same. I ended up having my mechanic weld it together. Not spinning anymore

i heard short throw shifters mess with the synchro-rev matching so that's probably why a lot of people don't get them.

Can you explain this? I have a TMW short shifter and I've never had a problem with the SRM. Is there a valid reason why a short shifter would cause problems with SRM? I can see why a different final drive would alter your SRM but a short shifter shouldn't mess with that.

I don't have srm but I know tons of people that do that have short throws and never heard of any problems. I think I'm the only person that bought a Stillen though...

I'm looking to buy a short throw shifter, leaning towards stillen. Any other much better brands?

TWM comes to mind. Though, I decided to stick with the OEM shifter, but matched with a heavier shift knob. I was once interested on a short throw shifter, but after reading multiple threads, it didn't, and still doesn't, seem like an upgrade worth doing.

After doing the TWM shifter on my car, I can say I'd do it again. I really never like the 2nd to 3rd shift in this car in particular, and after the TWM shifter, I can say that is greatly improved. I couldn't bring myself to spend the money for the TWM shift knobs. I bought a Voodoo shift knob to start to see how I liked it at first. I think it's fine and $100 cheaper.

It's a quick easy install really. I think the people that say it's not worth doing because the Z's shift throw is already pretty short, haven't driven a car with one. As far as Z modifications go, it's not horribly expensive, and it really does make the shifter feel more precise.
