Default Lingering problem. Whats next?

Ive been having this problem for a couple of months now and cant seem to fix it. Keep hearing this thumping noise from my car. Starts around 20 mph and up. Recently it has also been accompanied by my steering wheel shaking while I drive.

My cars has: M310s w/ Hankok V12 tires, Swift Springs, Rear camber kit, and recently added Z1 Brake upgrade for sport models.

I first thought it was brakes and went and upgraded the rotors, pads, etc. (i need new pads anyway they were screaming) but that only solved the violent steering wheel shaking when I would brake. Now, it just shakes and makes that thumping noise as I drive.

Anyone of you fine gentlemen/women have any suggestions on what else I can do to fix this issue? My next guess is camber kit for the front? Or maybe the wheel barings are messed up?

Help and advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

First I would check that the wheels are correctly mounted. If you are using a centering ring make sure it is the correct one and correctly fitted.

2nd would be make sure that the wheels are correctly balanced. Have them checked/re-balanced on a good road-force balancing machine.

Worst case, bent wheel. You can check for this by jacking the front of the car up and spinning the wheel slowly by hand while holding a reference next to it and making sure the lip is even all the way around. Your balance shop should be able to tell you that it is likely bent if you end up with a crap load of weight on one side.

Wink

Check to see if you have a broken belt in a tire.

Shaking steering wheel means it's coming from the front of the car. Most likely something is causing the tires to be out of balance. Either wheel weights fell off, bent rim, something stuck to tire... could be many things but almost certainly wheel/tire related.

that or even a slit in the sidewall or tread, or even a bubble.

How many mikes are on the car.. I ask because our cars have seal hubs. Sometimes the hub where's out and will cause vibration at cretin speeds. That is an indicator of that issue.

Some thing to check:
-M130's are already hub centric but ck the lug nuts
-Take a large screw driver or a crow bar and jam it under the tire then lift it up and down. If you here a popping sound then one of your ball joints is warn out. Most of the time its the lower one.
-If you feel the popping in the hub then its the hub.

You can tell were the problem is by the sound and putting your hand on the joints when you lift up.

Hope this helps

hey guys thanks for all the advice. I solved half the problem especially the shaking of the steering wheel with the upgraded brakes and also found out some of the weights on the wheels fell off. Got em balanced and made a big difference! im due to change the front tires soon since the wires starting to show. Thanks again!
