there are folks that do alignments using the string method.... lol im not sure if that's popular these days since most speed shops can now do computer aided alignments.

always remember that the numbers will constantly change slightly.. with wear, suspension settling, track rubber, weight, pressures, temp.. etc. so even some fancy laser/computer/satellite/gps alignment rack will be precise only at that moment in time.
