Street and occasional track day brake pads

Hi, all,

Wife wants to do some HPDE days in her 2013 Sport Touring Z 6-spd. It’s the one that seems to have upgraded calipers.

I doubt that she will test the brakes that much in the first year on track, but I want her to have a good experience and stay safe. She’s been out as a passenger in my car and also had some hot laps with instructors before. Done a few laps in exotics (some of those “dream car experiences”), and I’m excited to share this hobby with her.

Any recommendations on pads for the 370Z in this trim, that will be good for the street (good cold bite, no squeal) which is 99% of what the car does, but won’t throw in the towel after a couple braking zones at the end of a long straight?

Are the stocks adequate or should I be looking for HPS or some other brand / material? How about the fluid?

Ebc yellows are good for smaller course no noise on street low dust you can check specs on there sight .

I used Yellowstuff pads when I first started to do trackdays. Great street pad too.

cant speak for a multi purpose pad as I just jumped to the swapping in and out between corbotech 1521 and xp10/xp8. EBC yellow would probably have worked for me too but more important than anything you have a good clean fluid flush with a nice high grade dot4 or 5.1 fluid. And I mean a real flush not a quick change discount special master cylinder flush, meaning go to a shop you trust.

I'm really happy with the StopTech Sport (309 series) pads which I've found to be right compromise for street & track. I ran all weekend (10 sessions) @ COTA with no issues or fade and they're pretty easy on the rotors, quiet, and reasonably clean. There have a Street Performance (308 series) which is a little cheaper and would probably do well for novice HPDE driver

And yes, will do a fluid flush (proper one). Do that every year with my track car and I think it is the best insurance you can buy.

I’m running EBC bluestuff NDX’s and I’ve been very happy with them. My understanding is that they are more track focused than the yellow’s. I haven’t had any issues with street driving them or when they’re cold. There’s a slight increase in noise when coming to a stoplight but it’s really not bad at all.

Sorry to resurrect an older thread but how do you like them for longevity? I'm on EBC yellows and want to move up to blues.
