After it rains, some rust appears. Braking scrapes this off. But is this pic normal?

See below.. the center of the rotor, where the rust didn't come off. I had brakes replaced recently at 70,000 mi and I'm starting to wonder if it always did

What do you think? anything to worry about?

edit: 1200 post hype! Haven't been on here in a while... which OGs are left?

That is 100% normal. The pads do not cover that portion of the rotor, so the rust doesn't get rubbed off when braking. Some aftermarket rotors come painted black to prevent the exposed metal from rusting

Not many OG's are still ing on the forum. There's a few from the former glory days of the forum that still pop in every now and again.

What would you consider a OG? Lots of posts, or join date?

Yeah those are normal. Even my 350Z with Akebono transplant brakes had those. If it really bothers you, spray your rotor hats and rusted area (after prepping, of course) with high temp paint and let your brakes "clean" off the excess paint.

Edit: Here's an old pic I found:

You probably had your rotors machined & they cut all the way across rotor; instead of where the pads contact...normal procedure for a lot of tech's/ but I resurfaced my own & only cut where the pads ride & painted them hi-heat black; chucked them back on the lathe & put a bi-directional finish on the machined part (removing any paint residue.
