I was just curious, for scrape protection would a sheet of stainless steel be better? I know it will be heavier, but would it be more durable?

Alumalite is two thin sheets of aluminum with a solid core. So for scraping, it would work similarly for a fraction of the cost. The thing with raw steel is it needs to be cut by plasma cutter or water jet...and to make a "one off" would be overly expensive for the average consumer.

What do you mean by "work similarly"?

I understand that both will protect, but will I be changing out the aluminum one sooner then SS one?

By "work similarly" I mean they will both protect your bumper from scraping. I don't see why alumalite would need to be changed out ever for the average scraping on driveways, etc.
