The locking pins go into the Chrome Ball Cups on the ends of the Hood Struts themselves. Insert the pin once you have installed the Hood Strut onto the Ball Studs on the brackets.

PM me your email and I will snap some pictures to send to you to illustrate this. I will also recommend to my guys here about getting a installation manual together.

I just installed these. I got them from a forum member who didn't install them.

There is definitely some bulging on the driver side - the passenger side was perfect first time. Originally, I had the bolt in the driver fender well on top of the plastic. I cut away at the plastic and reset it beneath the plastic - I also cut away at some vertical plastic adjacent to the nearby foam so the strut could sit lower (can provide pics upon request). The bulging is much less than it was, but it is still barely noticeable. I looked into the hood alignment options, but none of them seem to help. I decided it's acceptable for my purposes - I can see how other people might disagree.

I also either didn't get two or lost one of the locking pins. It was probably me who lost it, but it doesn't matter either way since I just fashioned another one that works fine. I will probably contact Z1 and if they can send me another one.

Lastly, they squeak hardcore and sound horrible when opening fully. Can I use some WD-40 or something on these?

^Interesting...had these on my previous Z33 (not by Z1) and they bulged too much for my taste. Ended up selling them.

JARBlue,
Shoot me a PM with your address. I have plenty of those locking pins as spares for situations just like this.

As far as a the hood bulging issue, could you snap some pics and email them to me: Dustin@Z1Motorsports.com.

Stupid noob question. I'm stuck on step 2...

Per the instructions, install the lower ball stud, reach into the wheel well to install the lock nut onto the ball stud. *The washer on the ball stud can be installed over or
under the cover

How can I remove this nut? That thing is on crazy tight to the ball stud. I've tried hand loosening, and I can't get enough leverage with a ratchet.

edit - I think I found out why. The bolts I received didn't come with the squiggly looking (don't know technical name, sorry) spacers, see pic below for reference:

Any help/advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Did you get this done? I used two adjustable wrenches when I couldn't loosen it by hand. If you have a bench vise, that might be a simple solution. Not sure what spacers you are referring to - mine had a bolt head, washer, and nut, just like shown in your picture.

question:
My g37's hood strut went out (the drivers side only). Would I be able to purchase these and have them still work with my current OEM hood strut setup?

Hmm...honestly I do not know. If you could take a few measurements, I could take a look at what I have. I need to know the following:

1) Could you measure the overall length of the strut at full extension.
2) Could you measure the strut when you fully compress it.
3) I need the length of the strut body (the large black body structure of the hood strut).

PM me these measurements and I will take a look at what I have. To be honest, the Nissan struts do not list their strut pressures.

I apologize for not seeing this posting. I don't know how I missed it. Did you get this resolved? If not, please let me know.

For some reason the girls back in assembly when they packaged the kits made a mistake and put LocTite on the threads of those studs and installed the nuts on them. . Simple mistake.

Yep, Spencer @ Z1 emailed me regarding this and handled the situation. I got my hood struts installed the other day. I was referring to the nut. I couldn't get it off the ball stud for the life of me.

Dustin, yes, this was resolved by Spencer, thank you. That's what he told me as well. No worries, I got it installed and I just need to do some minor work to get it to sit flush now. Currently has a small gap after install, I was advised by a board member to try and cut off some of the foam seal and see if that works.

Perchi,
Oh course. We ship to Russia occasionally, so it should not be an issue whatsoever.

PM me your shipping address and I can get you a shipping quote.
