Z1 Motorsports: 370Z Hood Struts $98

I received and installed my set a few weeks ago, no hood alignment issues that I could discern however my pair does lift the hood up on its own somewhat.

Ugh, I really wanted these.

The hood bulge is a no go for me. Thanks for the honest review.

Seems odd you would have this much of a problem. There is no doubt that they push down and get squeezed a bit between the hood and the battery cover etc. however the cover has some give to it.
You should have left the socket on and just unthreaded the shock out of it.

I had a slight bulge too but the misalignment ( 1 to 2 mm ) was easily corrected with the front aligners. It was like that without the shocks.
Not to insult your intelligence but you did put them on the right way?
Can you post a pic of the bulge?

Besides the fact that they do lift the hood independently ever so slightly (which I don't necessarily think is a bad thing) I have had no issues with mine and I have 20/15 vision. Maybe it's not us that need glasses because we obviously installed ours correctly.

I find it odd that so many have had little to no issues installing these.. with the exception of the "master tech"

After talking to Spencer @Z1 and explaining the problem he told me that when they designed this kit the dia. of shock was reduced as much as possible but it still my interfere with the plastic m/c and battery covers so we came up with a solution to reduce the interference and I try it this weekend and also to him what parts were damaged and he is sending them to me at my work (I'll get tthem tomorrow) plus he didn't charge me which is cool.

Also a side note that when you install the shock end on the ball that is bolted to the car you can't remove it.FYI

Are they interfering with the stock covers? I knew there were rubbing issues with cf and kevlar.

Agreed. And how childish is it that he immediately calls everyone else at fault but himself. Apparently we all need to get our eyes checked.

I'm glad you are but that has nothing to do with cars, if you guys read the post above Spencer said they made the shock dia as small as possible to avoide interference with the m/c cover and battery cover but since this car was not equipped with shocks it is impossible to avoid , why are you guys not having problem's I don't know Im not there but it is safe to assume that these cars are built close enough that some of you are having this problem and either don't care or can't see it, but the 'master tech' doesn't know what he is talking about when Spencer told me yesterday that there is a problem, but I don't know what I'm talking about, saving life is more important but I know when I'm right.

Have a good day
