The parking brake bypass is permanent. You just ground the wire from the parking brake and you can watch the DVDs while moving, no side effects.

Bypassing the VSS sensor allows you to use all the menu items on the nav system while moving. This one needs a switch because when you bypass the VSS the navigation doesn't work well. The system only polls the GPS every 15 or 20 seconds and fills in the rest of the movement based on the speed sensor. So you switch the VSS bypass, use the nav menu, then switch the bypass off so the nav works well.

100% Correct, I just like a switch so I can return the car to factory position.

As I said, all I'm really doing here is giving people a solution that doesn't require cutting wires. If you are willing to cut wires then you don't need this. The only addition is the backup camera override and again I will post a DIY for anyone interested (Now I know there is already a DIY on NAV and DVD I will probably just search for it and add to it)

Jeff: Sorry for sidetracking this backup camera thread.

Jeff: Sorry for sidetracking this backup camera thread.

are you kidding? you are like the Jesus of this thread. don't be sorry. i've PM'd all the 2009 people that responded so that we can get moving with the navtool group buy and only 5 have responded, i feel bad b/c people are waiting, this thread is intended for answering questions and getting people the camera kits and thats exactly what its being used for. all is good.

r9u8t0 11-08-2010 04:08 PM

I'm for keeping the camera kit separate from the bypass kit if it means getting camera
system two to three weeks sooner and with no splicing or adding switches.

PW370z 11-08-2010 05:40 PM

Hello. I have 2010 w/ Navigation. I was interested in the back-up camera w/ harness. I was also interested in bypass kit. Could you please send me a PM w/ the cost of both? Thanks.

djpathfinder 11-08-2010 05:55 PM

post deleted...Sheesh! I don't know what happened. I should have refreshed my browser before my last post as there had been about 10 other responses that came up since the post I wanted to reply to. Sorry.

axeman71 11-08-2010 06:20 PM

Osiris, I went back and looked it up and you have to follow 2 DIYs to get it done. First look at rarwz's post on page 2 of the thread http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...era-dvd-2.html for info on taking the dash and radio apart to access the wiring harness. Then switch to terrycs's and toc2rta's post on this thread http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/1...ck-2010-a.html for which wire to ground for the parking break (it also shows the VSS wire you can interrupt with a switch for the nav bypass). Make sure to follow the pictures for the 2010s if that is what you have and not the 2009s.

Mize, my DIY for running the wires in a Roadster is here: http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-r...-roadster.html

N8GTOL 11-08-2010 11:34 PM

I wouldn't mind having it in 2 separate kits for the sake of time/convenience. And with respect to the bypass kit I would be fine with either option 3 or 4.

I like the idea of hard switches so I can visually see if a setting is ON/OFF and also I don't have to worry about hitting a button in my pocket by accident. The downside I can see to hard switches (especially us guys with the heated touring seats) is the lack of a clean install location. I suppose I could recess a switch board in the glove box opening so that the passenger would have to control the bypasses...this would prevent me from unsafe driving habits as wall.

Jeff, can we start the list for 2010 guys? This is from a planning perspective, I'm not as worried about any reaching any total magic number.

The pricing will be as follows:
Kit excluding camera $100
Kit including Kenwood CMOS-200 camera $289

If we could collect who wants with or without cameras that would be great.

Great, yea go ahead, as long as you have everything worked out with AK, which it seems like you do.

I think you might want to start a new thread and put a link from here to there, specifically for the 2010 kit. perhaps have the 2 separate lists like you mentioned, one for w/ camera, one without.

wheee! 11-10-2010 08:12 AM

Kit with camera please. Approximate time frame for kit assembly and shipping? Before Xmas? After? No panic.... this is a great thread!

djpathfinder 11-10-2010 08:18 AM

Kit with camera too please.

wheee! 11-10-2010 08:21 AM

Osiris 11-10-2010 11:37 AM

Kit + Camera And does the kit include the DIY instructions?

Any pricing for the bypass kit?

dixon cider 11-10-2010 12:06 PM

Come on '09'ers.....Jeff and bdl99 put a lot of time and effort into getting a real nice set up for us. He needs 9 more out of the 12 that expressed interest. Step up to the plate, please. :tiphat:

Yes the kit includes DIY instructions.

No pricing on the bypass kit yet, will be working on that next.

LMBmikeZ 11-10-2010 07:31 PM

Add me to the 2010 list if we get one going........

I am in for the kit+cam also! Also interested in the bypass.......

PW370z 11-10-2010 09:26 PM

Count me in for a 2010 kit w/ camera!

As far as the bypass kit is concerned....I think the remote is the best option. You can just store it in the glove box or center console, and then you or your passenger can control the settings. It would be like a movable switch console and you don't have to change the interior.

dixon cider 11-11-2010 12:44 AM

Done (reflected in the list above).

Do you plan on using the Kenwood camera? If so I've created a supplemental instruction sheet on what I do to the camera (modification to bracket and soldering on power connector).

axeman71 11-11-2010 02:00 PM

bdl99, I went reading back through this thread but I couldn't find a definite answer so I want to clarify: The kit (without camera) includes an RCA plug for me to connect the RCA cable from my existing camera, right?

Yes, I do plan on using the Kenwood CMOS-200 camera. I would appreciate the supplemental instruction sheet on what you do to the camera (modification to bracket and soldering on power connector). Thanks!
