Sent PM for the ordering details....
|
Hope to have mine end of this week or early next week. Already have the camera so might get that installed at the weekend in anticipation of the wiring kit arriving.
Will I be the first in the UK to have it Brian? :D (on a 370z of course, I undertand you have some GTR owners with it already) |

hm, i would have thought the UK would have included the backup camera in the 2009/2010. i thought it was more or less a JDM spec car pretty much.

Just glad great people in the community can come up trumps with stuff like this, its one of the easiest mods I've done to my Zeds! Lots more orders will likely come from the UK when they get to see it can hopefully be done over here. |

Now that all the 2010 kits are on they way, just a reminder to help each other by suggesting any improvements to instructions. The instructions are a lot more detailed that you would probably get on any other kit but that doesn't mean they can't be better.
With the GT-R community the feedback made the instructions even better with people submitting alternative images (for example on the EU GT-Rs there are no holes behind the rear license plate). So for you trailblazers out there (especially roadster owners) help the other guys out by sending me any suggested improvements to the instructions. I can then apply them to the online version everyone has a link to. Cheers, Brian |
Wow, fast turnaround Brian!

I'm in for 2010 kit with camera if I'm not too late!

The only difference between the roadsters and the coupes is going to be in running the wire through the trunk. The interiors are the same so hooking up the adapter to the radio is the same in both cars. I have a DIY here:http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-r...-roadster.html, that was discussed earlier in this thread, which shows how to run the wire through the trunk and into the cabin without having to remove any of the panels behind the seats. Once you have the wire run into the cabin you just run it under the center console and up to the radio.

Also, found that if you cant get the foam block out behind the strut brace, you can get the cable through in 2 steps. First (in the EU car anyway) there is a document/instruction book holder behind the drivers seat. You can remove this and the little cover left behind it to help fish the cables through, both from the rear (where the foam is) and also from the arm rest. Will grab some pics when I can  For those that have done the install, can you show where you stuck the cam on the bumper, and also what the view looks like on the screen? I was doing mine in the garage and had to faff around for a while to try and find the best place in the bumper recess by the license plate light, and not sure I have it in the ideal place. |

I'm hoping many of the 2010 owners are busy spending their Sunday afternoon installing the camera. I did get one suggestion regarding the rear trunk trim and I've updated the online instructions (figure 4.3). Also the following DIY thread has some good pictures
http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...p-install.html Who is going to be the first to post their results? Maybe they will be the first to get the bypass kit ;) |
2 Attachment(s)
Just got done installing mine. Installation wasn't difficult at all and I took my time. I haven't taken apart the dash before but it was straightforward for the most part. The hardest time for me was trying to take out the start button connector, but after looking at the DIY on replacing it, it was a breeze.
I didn't really take any pictures during the process but here are a couple of the finished product. I still need to fine tune the grid lines but it's good for now. I do have one issue though, not sure what I did but the airbag light keeps flashing now and the passenger airbag off light comes on. I'm trying to figure out how to reset that. Does anyone have any ideas about that? I didn't disconnect the battery during installation but I guess I probably should have... |
Just noticed this post for others with some tips

I wasn't changing the start button but I just wanted to remove the whole dash part to give myself more room. I also routed the wires from the screen behind the radio panel so I removed that as well but didn't disconnect any connectors there.
Also where did you guys put the little power control module for the camera? I hid mine in the shifter area. I think I know what happened with the airbag light. I had disconnected the passenger airbag off light and accidentally turned the car power on while fiddling with the start button. I turned it off right away but I'm guessing that caused some error in the SRS system. I'm going to try to reset the error according to the service manual and see what happens. I never touched any other wires besides those. Perhaps a recommendation to disconnect the battery before removing the dash pieces would be good lol unless that's common sense and I'm just a newb. The camera works great though! I just need to test it out at night but I'd expect visibility to be good too. Edit: Resetting the SRS error worked. Light's not staying on anymore and the camera works perfect! |

Anyone else that has issues with the SRS light flashing after install cuz you turned the car on while the passenger airbag light was disconnected, can refer to the following thread on instructions to reset it:
http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/2...reset-srs.html |
My kit arrived last night *whoop*. Got it installed straight away and all works perfect! I need to change the draw line numbers as I have installed the cam on the other side of the hatch release button as it left more space to get the license plate lights in and out and (on my car at least) meant the wire was closer to the grommet for the wiring harness back into the rear hatch. I think there are just some co-eff numbers I can swap over and it will flip the side of the car it thinks its on.
I am doing my sound deadening on Friday, so will be back with more pics of where and how I did stuff, feel free to add them to your how to if you like Brian. Be prepared for a few more orders from the UK when I post it up on our site too ;) |

I thought about mounting on the other side. As you say it is a little easier but there were a couple of reasons I chose the other side. 1) At least on mine and Jeff's cars the clip where the cable could be routed was on right of the license plate lights (looking at the back of the car). 2) Also either way you want it as close to the center of the car to get the best image. 3) That was the side the Nissan's had them on and the basis for some of the donor settings. Not that I don't think that you cant change those and get it to work Note: With the full kits I trim the bracket so it fits. Was there holes behind the license plate? On the US cars there is and that makes routing/fishing fairly easy. With the UK/EU GT-Rs from what I've seen they are not there so you have to fish straight from the grommet to the license plate light. Let me know if you want some help with the numbers, you might just be able to change the offset to a negative. More pictures are always appreciated as in any input to improve the instructions. Like adding a section on installing on the other side. |
Ahh, ok that makes sense. On mine, yes the clips are on the right hand side of the light units also, so cables would be closer to the clip for feeding through. I thought it was a bit close to the clip to be able to get the bulb in and out if required. Also didnt realise that the left hand side was closer to the centre of the car. I can easily swap it over to that side if needs be though, no biggie.
With the license plate holes, I didnt take my plate off. I fed a bit of 2 core wire through the grommit and down to the floor, then made a "hook" out of the end and hooked it in the hole for the bulb holder. Taped the cam wire to that and pulled it all back through :) I'll have a play with the numbers, but may just move it over to the other side of the release button if the numbers are hard to work out. Keeps it easier to work with if we all have the cam in the same place I guess. |
