I'm posting this thread to gauge interest from those with 2009 and 2010 370'z with OEM Navigation. As many of you know, the 2011 Navigation includes a Rear View Monitor. If this can be retrofitted into 2009 and or 2010 370Z's with OEM Navigation, we could possibly arrange a group buy from one of the vendors or supporting Nissan dealers, or at least let them know there is interest in the part and it is something we would like them to carry. Perhaps one of them would be able to shed some light on the compatibility and cost of the unit, and maybe even installed prices.
Since there are differences between the 2010 and 2009 nav, it is possible that the 2011 Rear view monitor may only be compatible with the 2010, or none at all. I'm sure that, no matter what, we would need some sort of a software update as well. Regardless, lets get a list going of those of us with 2009/2010 with Nav, who'd like to have this part installed.

List your username and your model year. i will update this post with a list of those interested, separated by model year.

bigaudiofanat 10-20-2010 01:13 PM

I am just asking, so you do not know if the factory camera will work with the older nav systems in the z's?

my only assumption is that it will either work with both 09/10 or just 2010, since i have heard that there are differences between the two.

Just get a small mirror and tie it to your shoe strings. Much cheaper and more effective.

jpritche 10-20-2010 02:11 PM

I have a 2009 and I would be interested if the price was right obviously.

Jeffblue 10-20-2010 11:14 PM

updated everyone so far. The more the better, hopefully we can approach a vendor and say 'hey there X # of us wanting to buy this camera/unit, lets make it happen.'

dixon cider 10-21-2010 08:29 AM

I'm in. 2010

Fly1 Motorsports 10-21-2010 11:18 AM

I'd be interested, 2010.

Back up Camera

I'm interested. 2010.

Jeffblue 10-21-2010 11:34 AM

seems to be a good amount of interest so far. Assuming they sell these for 500 (probably will be a bit more, but just a ballpark), this is like 6,000 worth of parts orders so far for what ever dealer/vendor is able to get this for us.

I'm also interested, I have a MY 2010.

And here is an interesting info from the 2010-Workshop Manual.

so does that imply that our NAV is capable of interfacing with a factory camera, and it just isn't wired up for it?

I am in add me to the 2009 list. I thought the only diferance with the 2010 and 09 is that 10 has a dvd player with it. Also the 09 is capable as a dvd player just need the software. source is a master tech at nissan.

good to know! i hope it works out for everyone. a few more. i'd' like to get as many people as possible and then contact one of the dealers/vendors. also we're probably gonna have to wait until the '11s actually hit the showrooms. but the more the better!

toner123 10-21-2010 08:21 PM

The back up camera there using in the Z is the same one that comes in the rogue and the marono from the IPB I just found on the net. It used the same part number.

I want to say yes. There is also a switch that connects to the shifter that way if you put the vehical in reverse it automatically brings it up on the screen. The only thing i can't tell is to where it hooks up into the system because it can't use AV ports since they are disabled the moment you put the car into any gear. I will try to see what else i can find since we are going to need the camera and the switch. I don't think they are sold together since they both had seperate part numbers. The biggest issue we are going to have I think is getting the new software/firmware.

did they give you any estimate on the cost of the camera/software? are they just going to update your nav to 2011 software to get it to work after wiring it up?
