They told me that they should work, and since they don't I need to pull it all apart again and verify all the connections and check the resistance. Supposedly even the slightest bit of noise in the circuit could cause them not to work.

They didn't sound very confident in their answers though and I didn't want to be bothered pulling all that **** apart again so I left it alone. All the other buttons work, I'm not sure the phone buttons can work.

When I hooked up the radio I was having trouble with the blue tooth as well, turns out the phone was still connected connect to the OEM stuff. I'm not sure but it looks like Nissan used a separate blue tooth adapter rather then one integrated into the radio, that of course is based on the fact that it still showed up as available, and was connected, after the OEM radio was removed. Although it doesn't show up anymore, but my suspicion is phone buttons may go directly to that unit in which case I don't think the adapter would work. My guess is since the blue tooth is no longer hooked to anything now, and nothing is trying to connect to it that it doesn't get activated and that's why I don't see it anymore. I haven't tried pushing the buttons to see if I can get it to come up again, I was pretty fed up with the whole thing at the time and didn't really care.
Or I could be competently off base since most of this is just guessing anyway

Default ASWC-1 Connector - AX-NIS32BT

I know I'm very late in this discussion but I'm putting in a new Pioneer head unit in my car and bought the ASWC-1 from Crutchfield. After reading all of the documentation I found this note on bypassing the 370Z Bluetooth controller. You can do this manually but Axxess makes a plug that does the bypass for you so the head unit and the SWC work together. It's the AX-NIS32BT and it is $12.99.

Heres a quicktip, If you guys dont want to tap into the car side of the harness to wire it up you can peel back the wires twist tightly and shove them into the empty pin holes. theyre a tight fit so they wont come loose and if your like me and hate tapping into factory harnesses then you dont gotta do that either
oh yeah and you need your own wire for the black pin 15
ASWC - Car
blue/gray - blue
gray/red - pink
- black

I hooked my aswc up to a pioneer avh-p4200. I have had the head unit working in my car for 3 months and I just decided to hook this steering wheel adapter up. I got through the install fine and hooked up the pink blue and black wire up to the car and grounded pin 15 to the same ground as the rest of my radio( I hope that is okay). I also hooked up the red wire from the aswc to the orange ignition wire. I programmed the unit manually and every thing worked fine. So I turn the car off put the dash back together. I go to turn the car back and the radio is going hay wire. I can't change sources and the radio will not stop on a station. My back up cam will not work. I tried resetting the radio and still nothing. I took the dash apart checked all my connections. I then took the aswc off and turned the radio back on everything works fine. So I hook the aswc up again everything works. Turn the car off and then back on same thing radio goes hay wire.

What do you guys think bad aswc? I was thinking of trying to hook up the red wire from the aswc to the red power wire on the radio. Thinking that it might need to be powered all the time so when I turn the radio off it doesn't loose power.

I am calling metra tomorrow to see if the can help.

Oh yea I have a base '10

Weird setup. The instructions say to connect to pins #6 and #16. Pin #6 does not go to the HU if you are not wiring rear speakers. So I wired the rear speakers anyway. Too tired to fuss with it today after spending half a day ripping apart the interior and running amp and subwoofer wires. The Clarior CX 501 HU works along with the Sound Ordinance powered sub. I will see if it will work manually in the morning.....

Mine was a snap... except for the instructions provided by axxcess.......
2 wires plus power and ground....
It auto programmed itself, and is working perfectly since.
If I remember correctly, you have to press and hold the volume + on your wheel to get it to accept the unit...

Do not go by the wire colors to do this DIY unless you have the same stock HU. A base stereo does not use the same wire color to pin combo as a Bose system does. Follow the pin call outs and all should work just fine. On a bose system pin 6 is white, pin 15 is black and 16 is gray. No pink wire to splice to here. Make sure when you look at a connector illustration, that you know if it is the pin (terminal) side or the wire (harness) side you are refering to also.

These were the same colors for me as well.

The blue/pink/black wires were my 6/15/16 pins and I have a 2009 Touring w/ Bose. Overall, the ASWC was pretty easy to install. After reading through the instructions in the second link of the first post, I was able to manually set everything up. The diagnostic only had a long flash on the blue/gray wire and not the red/gray wire.. but everything works fine.

For step 5 connect pin 15 of vehicles harness to ground, does that mean cut the wire and ground it? Shouldn't it already be grounded since it IS a ground wire?

Yes cut the wire and ground it. Through the stock head unit it was grounded however with the new head unit that pin does not go to anything.

So you have to ground this wire on the vehicle side of the harness? Or can you ground it on the aftermarket harness? I noticed mine has two ground leads off the black ground wire.

It can be grounded at the same place your head unit is being grounded to.

The black wire in your metra harness is only for Subaru vehicles, in a nissan you have to make your own ground location.
