Default axxess module.

Hi,

Anyone in the area wire their aftermaket HU to the steering controls using metra axxess module?

If so I am wondering if you can help...

I had to manually program the module using resistors... but only volume up/down work nothing else works...

Thanks,
jay

Being that I have no clue what-so-ever on how to even remotely wire anything in my car, when I saw the title "axxess module" I thought it was spam lol

I have no clue what that is.

I finally got my Axxess ASWC module to work with all steering wheel buttons and my Pioneer HU. The problem wasnt with the pioneer, but with the Axxess's inability to grab control of all the steering wheel buttons. With some TLC and carful monitoring, I found on my car that auto-programming (volume + button) as instructed did not allow the Axxess to find one vehicle wires connected. I noticed this through monitoring the LED flashes after programming.

To get past this, I had to manually assign each button; one at a time. I did not have to use resistors or anything, just carefull reading of about 20 steps.

First, you must wire the Axxess ASWC per instructions for Nissan 370z. Here are the 370z's instructions:

http://documents.victorytechnologies...icle/10973.pdf

Second, re-program all the wheel buttong manually following instructions starting on Page 8 where it says "*If the ASWC has been in a vehicle before"
through Page 10 of this pdf:

*Note - You need access to the unit's reset button to manually program.

That did it for me!!

Did my install last night, got the Axxess to work with my base steering wheel controls. There are 3 wires you have to connect from the Axxess module to your Z's stock wiring (pin 6, 15, 16), and also connect the Axxess's black wire to ground, and red wire to ignition. Just use the diagram in that first PDF link, but note that the diagram is illustrated as though you're looking at the connector from the end that plugs into the adapter, not the end where the wires run into the plastic connector. So you have to mentally flip everything. On my Z, pin 6 had a purple-reddish wire, pin 15 was black and pin 16 was blue. Just do what the first PDF says and it should work. Oh, and you definitely have to ground pin 15 (even though it's black, it's not grounded).

Once that was done, I had to perform the Manual Programming/SWC Button Reassignment, which starts on page 8 of the second PDF. Make sure you do step 13 or the programming won't take.

I finally got this to work!! it was so easy... Every time i had tried i did not do the manual programming for the HU, only did the Car detection piece and tried the auto for the HU programming.

Last night did both manual programming and it was very easy to get working.

I just installed this a few days ago. What a PITA.

Same for me, it would auto program the VOL up and down only. Had to manually program the other buttons. Also of note you MUST connect pin 15 of the vehicle side harness to Ground for this to work. I omitted this step as I was confused that you also hook up the BLACK wire of the Axxess ASWC module to Gound so I thought this is not needed! Nope it is. You have to supply your own black ground wire and tap into the black pin 15 on the vehicle side and then connect it to the vehicle chassis. Why this wire is not grounded already is beside me. I was then able to get it to work, and it seems to be working good so far with minimal button delays. More noticable on Blue tooth audio vs CD/Tuner controls.
