Wheel buttons - Getting the Axxess ASWC working - All buttons

Can this get a sticky please?

I finally got my Axxess ASWC module to work on my 2009 Base / Sport 6sp. All steering wheel buttons operate my head unit. With Auto-Programming I only getting the vol+ and vol- working, and nothing with the other buttons. The problem wasnt with the pioneer, but with the Axxess's inability to grab control of all the steering wheel wires/buttons. With some TLC and carful monitoring, I found on my car that auto-programming (volume + button) as instructed did not allow the Axxess to find one vehicle wires connected. What happens here is one of the two steering wheel wires is for the Volume controls, and the other wire is for seek and source buttons. I noticed this through monitoring the LED flashes after programming.

To get past this and get the Axxess fully working with my 370z, I had to manually assign each button; one at a time. I did not have to use resistors or anything, just carefull reading of about 20 steps.

First, you must wire the Axxess ASWC per instructions for Nissan 370z. Here are the 370z's instructions:

Second, re-program all the wheel buttong manually following instructions starting on Page 8 where it says "*If the ASWC has been in a vehicle before"
through Page 10 of this pdf:

*Note - You need access to the unit's reset button to manually program.

That did it for me!!

Good job. Hope they make this an automatic programming device as advertised soon. I'm still not sold on it and will continue to use PAC.

Nice job. I will be doing my install this weekend and the steering wheel unit was what had me the most worried.

Glad you got it working.

Oddly enough, when I installed my DNX8120, the auto-programming worked fine. When I switched to the DNX9960, I had to do some manual programming also. Never could figure out why, but the manual programming was relatively easy.

Quick question I am working on a touring model 370z. I have done the manual on the metra before but it does not seem to work on the touring auto setup gets volume buy hats all. Triple checked the wiring still no luck. Any ideas touring owners?

I am thinking it could be a bad unit but not sure yet.

Big,

Did you try doing the procedure from pages 8 thru 10 of this document?

This worked perfectly for me. Thanks for writing it. My volume buttons work but sometimes theres a delay or I have to push the button long for it to work.

BTW this shoulb be a sticky. If the PAC-SWI is why not this one?

I finally got this to work!! it was so easy... Every time i had tried i did not do the manual programming for the HU, only did the Car detection piece and tried the auto for the HU programming.

Last night did both manual programming and it was very easy to get working.

question to those who got this working. with my pioneer x920bt i cannot get the up and down buttons to program preset up/down. when i use these buttons all i get is tuner up/down and seek up/down if i hold the buttons. is this a limitation of the axxess?

Cant say enough good things about this product.
Auto detect only got the volume working. Did the manual program and it was up and running in only a couple of minutes.

They told me that they should work, and since they don't I need to pull it all apart again and verify all the connections and check the resistance. Supposedly even the slightest bit of noise in the circuit could cause them not to work.

They didn't sound very confident in their answers though and I didn't want to be bothered pulling all that **** apart again so I left it alone. All the other buttons work, I'm not sure the phone buttons can work.

When I hooked up the radio I was having trouble with the blue tooth as well, turns out the phone was still connected connect to the OEM stuff. I'm not sure but it looks like Nissan used a separate blue tooth adapter rather then one integrated into the radio, that of course is based on the fact that it still showed up as available, and was connected, after the OEM radio was removed. Although it doesn't show up anymore, but my suspicion is phone buttons may go directly to that unit in which case I don't think the adapter would work. My guess is since the blue tooth is no longer hooked to anything now, and nothing is trying to connect to it that it doesn't get activated and that's why I don't see it anymore. I haven't tried pushing the buttons to see if I can get it to come up again, I was pretty fed up with the whole thing at the time and didn't really care.
Or I could be competently off base since most of this is just guessing anyway :bowrofl:
