I sat down last night with my UI Designer to get the first walk through of the phone portion of the interface. This is displayed directly on the screen that will be used for this project. I don't know about you all but I am very happy with the wire-frames. Keep in mind this is not how it will look once it is finished, the idea is to keep it basic and make it function. Once it can function then we get to play with how it will look!

I'd be down to beta test the system Car is a daily driver though so It would have to be somewhere close to me so I can get back home and to work easily without a car

How long would installation on something like this be Anthony?

I am looking into building wiring harnesses that will allow for it to be directly plugged into the factory plugs. with that being said I would estimate 2 hours of install time and another couple of hours to fully configure the system. It would be a good estimate to assume half a day at a local stereo shop or local expert.

I am looking into it now. Over the next couple of weeks I will be discussing with a few developers to do the coding for the interface. I will make sure that this is something that is brought up in those discussions.

If it is possible what is everyone more interested in?

+1 for Android Auto, but it's obviously it's going to depend on what phone everyone is using.

I had to take a step back and do some rethinking on it. I got a couple of quotes from different companies that can print in large scale. The prices ranged from $800 to nearly $2000. So I am trying to cut out excess material that isn't structurally needed now to lower my overall cost. That was way more than I wanted to pay for a prototype print.

could you make it sort of a skeleton? Just have a frame with all the moutning points. Worst case you could fiber glass that in after.

also for those numbers I would buy my own printer!

The skeleton is something I am looking into as well as reducing the total volume of the dash (thinning out the walls). I wish i could buy a 3d printer in that range. There are a lot of printers you can pick up for that price but to print somethint 14" x 14" x 5" in on go would be more in the range of $5,000+
