That review has been brought up several times and frankly no one cares about it.
To the OP and the rest of the folks here: That is what I've heard and that's what I know. Spearfish, if for some reason you want to listen to this guy, just think about turn 9 at RA and let me know how important saving a couple hundred bucks is. He just likes to oppose everything I say. NISMOZ, he is talking about Road America and you want to send him out on Hankook V12s? Last edited by RCZ; 02-20-2010 at 10:44 PM. |

Well it is what I know and what I heard as well. You have never owned the tires yourself just read what you see on the net. I have people I know who have actually ran these tires. Do what you wish, but Nittos are not all that.

No biggie. I have been racing since 1994, so I guess my experience doesn't meet his. lol!

It's not about taking sides nor is it a competition. Given my novice level of track driving, the reality is that any of these tires will probably out perform my driving. This is how I talked myself out of coilovers.

Great post of people who track their cars and testing different tires.

I also wouldn't disregard that Car and Driver review. I used to work with Spencer Geshwein, the driver/tester in that review, and he is a very talented driver, with many, many years as a test driver with Michelin. He has also won the One Lap of America, so he has talent (and knows how to evaluate tires). When I worked at Ford, I remember when they first signed a contract with Hankook - nobody could believe the manufacturing capabilities and performance of the tires (not that this translates to a good track tire). Since then, I have been open to Hankooks, plainly due to their uniformity and quality capabilities.
BTW, I have no experience with these tires, but have been looking at purchasing them. Last edited by speedworks; 02-21-2010 at 10:00 AM. |

Do auto and/or tire manufacturers have any role in these manipulating these reviews though? My concern is that greasing some palms gets their tires rated better. Perhaps pure cynicism but sometimes that's how the world works.
