Tire Installation Question

Hi All,
I purchased tires, Michelin Pilot Super Sport, from Tire Rack and they shipped them to one of their recommended installers. The installer will charge $20/tire to mount and balance the tires. I know they offer RoadForce balancing, but not sure if they charge extra for it. Can you share your experience with Road Force and how does it differ from regular balancing?

Also, will I need to get new TPMS or reuse the current ones? The shop will do a free alignment check and it is likely that my car needs alignment. Should I have them do the alignment or take it to a Nissan dealer for that service?

Unless your tpms sensors are broken, they get reused. What they do replace are the rubber gaskets. Most shops charge $3-5 per tire for this.

Road force balancing is a more sophisticated way of balancing the wheel. You'll have to google for details on the actual differences. For most drivers a standard balance is fine.

Yes, you should have the alignment checked and/or corrected to avoid premature tire wear.

Thanks for the reply. I will have the alignment checked/corrected. I am just wondering if a decent independent shop can handle it or should I take it to a Nissan dealer?

Most any independent can return you settings to OE if they're off. Front can only be adjusted for toe while rear has toe and camber adjusters. Not sure about rear caster. Your shop may or may not perform custom alignments, you'll have to ask if'n you want that.

I wouldn't be having mine done by the locals,,,might try dealer or drive to sacratomato after researching whos the best qualified

As long as they aren't back there with string and plumb bob, they will most likely do a fine job with your alignment. Make sure they offer a guarantee and a printout of the specs before and after which are pretty standard.

I wouldn't go to the dealer for anything that wasn't warranty work.

I prefer to take mine to a shop that specializes in tires and alignment. I've been using the same shop here in town for over 20 years.

Is your car stock? I wish I had that much front negative camber. Looks pretty cherry to me.
