Default My 2013 sport package wheels are... peeling??

I just got my 2013 370z like 2 weeks ago and am loving it. However, a couple of days ago, I noticed something strange on my wheels. Upon closer inspection, I saw that they were PEELING?? wtf?? I thought the gunmetal color was the ACTUAL color of the sport package wheels, but it seems like it is just a film covering the rays? Can anyone chime in on this?

I'm going into the dealership asap about this. I'm very irritated about this and it's very lame that Nissan did this...

Any chance that is a protective coating for shipping? On cars.com there are 2 370z 13 Sports - 1 with a brighter finish on the wheel and then 1 with a darker finish. Im betting thats the difference. I hope its not actually a flaw. Im about to put an order for a Blue 13 Sport and will delay if there is a major flaw with these wheels.

hmmmmm, I'm not sure. But if it were, wouldn't the dealer remove it before the car was sold? I thought the wheels were a gunmetal color but I guess it's not. Nissan fooled me.

I called the dealer earlier about it and they said they had no idea and just to bring the car in. I found a couple of minor peels on the other wheels too... So right now, I have 3 wheels with peels and 1 wheel that looks awesome.

From the picture it looks like protective film. There is often quite a bit on a new car.

Our used 2010 still had film on the aluminum dead pedal for example when we got it in 2012...no one noticed it. Well...*I* noticed it. It had a red hue...so don't know how others missed it

If the film is subtle and well adhered, its easy to miss. Some dealers are far dumber then they appear to be.

I only want to say its protective covering because the rims should be silver, and your rims look like they are a few colors, not uniform at all...

Sorry about the wheels, but welcome to the group and good luck!!!

Yep your average PDI guy at the dealer isn't Einstein. I can still see remnants of it on my 2010 sport rays on the edge! Im betting they FORGOT to pull it off. OP check the rest of the car for other items they missed.

its protective film.. the wheels probably come completely covered off the boat and when they pulled it off some of it got stuck... just pull the rest of it off

see look how the GTRs come

OP thats the protective wrapping they put the wheels in from the factory that is peeling off, i know cause when i received my 2011 i had to peel the rest of that stuff off as the dealer missed a few pieces of it on my rims.

Is it clear or silver? If it's clear, it's the protective wrap. If it's silver, you've got problems.

I agree that it looks like a film. It's just weird that it's the exact color of your wheels. It's probably fine just to peel off on your own but I'd still have the dealer look at it and have them take it off in case it causes any damage or discoloration.
