Is 35/30 Sidewall too thin?

These are the right size for the 20's. It would be too tall with 40/35 (f/r). You will damage the wheels even with 40/35 if you hit it hard enough.

I'm nervous if the sidewall of 35/30 is too thin, will one decent pothole bend a rim? Any input or past experiences with this please share.

P.S. - I'm leaning toward 35/30 because the tire I am looking for doesn't come with a larger sidewall than 35, or they are out of stock.
