Default tires popping at full lock

So I'm pretty sure I've read that this is normal, but when the car is cold and I turn the wheel all the way to either side the tires make a popping sound like one side is skipping. Sounds like a locker in my jeep. I guess I'm just looking for validation that's is normal. My 350 never did this. Seems to go away after its warm? Thanks

Get some nice Michelin PSS or nice R-11, and you'll feel much better.

Research the "Ackerman" effect. It's common with wide tires.

Interesting. Just read up on this. So as the tires warm up they don't slip as much and better tires grip better illiminating the issue?

That's exactly what they are doing. Kind of like an earthquake. First, there is a build up of energy because the tire is not rolling perfectly straight and the treads are deformed. When the rubber can't deform any more, it snaps to the new position.

It's happening whenever you have the steering wheel near the extremes. When the tires are cold, they make more noise.

It's most noticeable in lighter cars with wider tires ... like a 370Z.
