You need to get a dyno tune. That's how the program works. If you don't have access to a dyno, you can log certain parameters, email them to the tuner and he'll change the map based on what your ecu is seeing. A dyno tune is always better than an Etune.

Another problem I have is that I've heard others say they are having problems with emissions after getting uprev is this true?

The tune itself won't make a difference for passing emissions, unless you are using it to disable DTCs, particularly those related to the Rear O2 sensor, which would only be done if you had already removed your cats(i.e your odds of passing emissions were iffy to begin with). Disabling those DTC causes the readiness tests for heated catalyst to show as "Not Supported", which depending on the state and/or specific inspector they may fail you.

In which case you can re-enable the DTCs in UpRev software and put your cats back on, or use an anti-fouler to trick the O2(many test pipes have this sort of thing built in), though occasionally this can still trigger a check engine light.

So after buying uprev which is $500, what's an average price for a tune another $500 or so?

I thought you could just buy the Flash without getting it Dyno'd? Personally, the difference of a few hunded to put it on a dyno and get the full potential out of the tune makes sense to me but I thought you could just flash it with pre-programmed settings and be done if you wanted. Almost positive thats what a shop told me...
